Is Dani Johnson's story for real?

Just read an article about her. She was homeless and ended up becoming a millionaire by the second year she started selling a weight loss program, but when I Google her, I can't find much about how she made her money. I think her story is turning into a big thing. What do YOU know about her?

All 'stories' are a part of myth-building - which is done by all successful self promoters.

Sure, I believe anyone can turn their life around, especially in America. It's easy to have bad things happen to you. Maybe you caused them yourself, maybe you didn't.

One day you buckle down and get to work and everything changes. It happens all the time.

First of all, I have no idea what your IQ is and thank you for your answer. Secondly, exaggerating something isn't the same as an insult. How's my reply different than your answer? Think about it. If you hadn't mentioned how long it took you to Google something, I wouldn't have answered the way I did. Put yourself in my shoes. I asked a question and someone comes up with an answer but also puts me down by letting me know how long it takes to find that info.

I always remain skeptic of rag to riches stories. In the case of this lady, she is keen to say how bad she had it (including being sexually abused and living in a drug-infested place??), yet she doesn't say how she supposedly went in 2 years from homeless (with a newborn, btw) to being a millionaire.

It's interesting she actually described the whole being sexually abused as her first words into the interview, which are the exact same flow of words she used in her About page in her site.

Perhaps I don't share her trivializing of being sexually abused (I know 2 people including a very close family member who last thing they'd do is talk about their sexual abuse with a smile on their face and put it all over the internet), and I find it interesting she says nowhere how she made her money in those 2 years. She does sell a lot of hope in her book and websites though; there's always a big market for selling hope, I guess since she claims to be a "millionaire".

I know a few people who've been to MLM training courses she's done, but not stayed for the whole thing because they were so taken aback at all the prayers and bible-readings which were an unannounced but apparently integral part of the courses themselves, and applicable to participants of one religion only. (I know it sounds very strange and terribly unbusinesslike, but although it's all second-hand information, to me, I've nevertheless heard exactly the same thing from a few different sources, and I'm inclined to believe it, myself).

After seeing her on "Secret Millionaire" in 2011, I was very curious too, ESPECIALLY since she doesn't really say how she made her money.

So I dug around a little and even got a few of her courses and have followed her online ever since. Turns out, she made her millions in MLM, though I have no idea which one it was since she never mentions it, even in her courses.

So now she offers her business-building knowledge to all types of business people (not just MLMers) through her lead product, her "First Steps to Success" seminars, which are held once a month in different places around the country. This month it's being held in London, England and next month, it's being held in Orlando, FL.

FSTS is geared to people in ALL types of businesses, but she also offers an additional workshop either before or after it geared specifically to MLMers, teaching them how to build their MLM businesses.

She has several courses available on her website. Other things she sells after the FSTS seminar are "Creating a Dynasty" seminar and prospecting and closing classes.

That's about as much as I know about her business funnel. She may offer more, but I don't know.

I'm not one who likes to go to many seminars, workshops or networking meetings. I prefer to get courses and learn on my own at home, but what I have of her stuff is live recordings of seminars that were turned into courses.

I'm not a Dani Johnson groupie or in MLM, but from what I've learned of her and have gotten from her, she's the real deal. I was very suspicious too, but actually, I've been quite impressed with what I've learned from her. One of her primary focuses is in building your people skills -- and business and sales is all about dealing with people. So much of it is pretty fundamental. I found her prospecting and closing classes to be VERY helpful, including dealing with objections.

She IS a Christian and not shy about saying so. I'm a Christian too, but still feel it's important to abide by the general rule of business: keep religion and politics out of it. I don't agree with her style of talking religion in her business so much, but it's more of a personal style issue for me. I don't actually disagree with anything she says regarding religion.

Since she's coming to Orlando next month, I'm tempted to go. I DO occasionally go to live events and haven't been to one in almost a year. I don't like the idea of being one of such a huge crowd though. Blech! (I prefer smaller, more intimate events where you actually get to know or speak with the speakers.)

Because I have several of her courses, I've gotten to know more of her story and how it all came about, which makes it easier for me to understand and believe. What you see and hear in the media is the barest snippet of her story, the highlights. Having gotten to know more about her, I believe every word she says, that she's on the up and up.

However, her personality/style is very different from mine and she's not someone I'd probably ever become a groupie of. Some of her style just rubs me the wrong way. It doesn't mean I can't learn a lot from her though and apply it in my own business. Like I said, I've been VERY impressed with her basic business info, especially her prospecting and closing information.

Oh, and you can be sure her story is for real. The FTC would have shut her down if it wasn't. And you can be sure that ABC vetted her story before featuring her in the debut episode of "Secret Millionaire."

      Hope that helps!

I think I saw one of her stories on the net recently. There wasn't much information in that except that hers was an abusive rags to lovely riches story without any solid facts.

The whole problem becomes who is she actually helping? I don't know for sure at all that all this marketing or seminars/stuff is in any way targeting those who live or are living the abusive rags story have any clue to find their way from where they are out of it like she apparently has done. So far from what little I know, the story has a lot of gaps. Perhaps they are filled in somewhere else?

Wasn't she working as a waitress and living in her car? Then all of a sudden in two years time, somehow, the circumstances are totally different without documenting the journey forward.

I understand that John - we have both been there...Rags to Riches is what this country was all about...
I was just commenting that after awhile, some of these rags to riches tales can become embellished over time - especially when you have a publisher or a press agent...

MissTerraK, bullying is just as bad and by bullies, I mean people such as yourself who stick around threads to create drama. My point is that you seem to be excited about the fact that I ended up having a smarta$$ reply to something that OFFENDED ME, but you haven't made an attempt to answer the question I asked. Honey,

Smarta$$ comments don't excite me. Trust me, I can be highly excited, but in regards to other things. What you saw was my sense of humor in laughing at what Yukon summarized, as it was spot on, and funny.

As to answer your question, I haven't a clue and quite honestly, I don't really care as it doesn't pique my interest in the slightest.

May I make a friendly suggestion? In regards to your animosity and being easily offended, lighten up, have some fun because in the grand scheme of things, life is really too short to be anything but happy.

I believe her story is real. Sure there are skeptics out there but they are probably not really that familiar with her works. I have personally been to her FSTS and I have many of her products. She has thousands and thousands of testimonials of people that have seen life changing results from following what she says to do.
She has a proven track record of success.

The people that left because they did not agree with her religion are letting the little things hold them back from greatness. She says over and over that you may not believe in her God but the information she teaches is sound and it works if you apply it.

Do your research and see for yourself. Yes this info is not new but for many it is something people need to hear.

I don't know this woman or her story. This is about these stories in general. Every "I made it big in two years from nothing" story I've seen changes the "before" picture to look more hopeless. It simply makes a better story.

I've never known a person to go from a complete loser to a complete winner in a couple of years. After all, it's the same person. Usually, they had a lot going for them before they started, and modified the story to make it more compelling.

But become a millionaire in a couple of years? Sure. A million isn't that much.

Several right recruiting choices, lots of work, and it's not that improbable.

The story is what sells her. But again, I just looked her up on Google, I don't know her.

As for me, I don't think it's 100% real but there might be some truth to it, I do believe the part where she made money fast, because she got into the MLM industry early on, and maybe she is a prodigy in that lol...

This is not about Dani Johnson.

But every rags to riches story I've seen in MLM (over an incredibly short period of time) has a back story.

Sometimes the person simply flips a group from one company to another. Sometimes the company has a huge front loaded "get started package", and an organization will invest in it all at once. This will throw the earnings through the roof, and then they drop.

Many MLM people actually make far more selling DVDs and coaching programs to their downline...than through the actual MLM business. Then they count those earning in their claims (I suspect this may be the case here) Then the company, and then industry, becomes their market, not just their downline.

And sometimes, there is a mass exodus from a dying company, and they move to a competitor. I've seen huge downlines raided by a competitor before.

I don't know this woman. But so far, every "Made a million from nothing in two years in our MLM"..I hear...has a story behind it. At least the ones I'm familiar with.

By the way, I do know several people that have made serious money in an MLM company. They built slowly, consistently, and in ten years were making a very good living. But "homeless to a millionaire in two years"? Maybe.

But most methods to get there are not duplicatable by the average Joe.

Instead of being jealous and bashing her, why don't you follow her?

You are in the OT section - not a lot of followers down here. Those types are upstairs in the main forum

I was talking about "Miracle" MLM stories, I don't know the woman.
Jealous? No. I wouldn't want to be in her position for anything.

I don't follow anyone. I'm able to think for myself.

I may study what they do, but "Follow"? No.

Dan, great song, great album. One of my all-time favorites. I do like the album version of Endless Commercial better though. He kind of hams it up in this live version.

    Dennis,

The words you posted sounded familiar, so I had to search.
(Thanks for the search btw, it also led me to Warren Haynes'
(Allman Bros) version of 'Soul Shine' and Allman Bros' cover of
    'Into the Mystic'. Nice.)
I'm only familiar with John Kay from Steppenwolf.
There was a Steppenwolf impostor band that tried
their con in Colorado back in the 80s or so.

I worked at a Saloon that had a lot of live music.
Overall, I could live without the hamming up as well
and prefer the studio versions of most music. Live is good
    when they just play.

Dan, if you haven't heard the whole album and you like that song, or like John Kay, check out his Heretics and Privateers album. I like every song on it.
