My 2-year-old son was playing with my cellphone, somehow connected with the police and said, "Hello." The police just visited us to make sure everything was OK, asked a bunch of questions, checked every room, complimented our place. Thanks, son.

      No. Is that standard practice?

That's ok. In my neighborhood, I'm not complaining about that, lol.

LMAO - that's the best grin I've gotten today. And Pat's question is what I'd love to hear an answer to.

He told them, "Pippi Longstocking is not here." I had to explain about the two police officers in the Pippi Longstocking movies that are always chasing after her.

well, in the us a partial 911 could trigger 911 to be notified. If they are called, it IS supposed to be checked out.

My phone dialed 911 no less than four times, and they held on, or called back.

BTW this is DANGEROUS! MOST corporate phones require a 9 to dial out! MOST non local numbers require a 1! That means that a LOT of people could dial 91 by mistake!

They must have a lot of free time on their hands. They're not as responsive over here.

that is how poicing should be - neighbourhood policing

i recall afriend told me how her son was playing with the phone and called 111, while playing.

the emergency control called back immediately, spoke to an adult and checked everything was right.

    just what should happen

Geez - Tbird - doesn't the kid have his own cell phone yet?

Seriously, time to get him a toy cell phone.

We've tried that. He never accepts anything other than the real thing. He's like a little Sherlock Holmes. Nothing gets by him. Just tonight I hid chocolate in the closet when he wasn't looking. He quickly turned his head, pointed to the closet while touching his ear with his other hand and said, "Hide chocolate there!"

This happened to me before as well but it wasn't my daughters this time. It was myself when I was 4-5 years old. I used to ring 999 (similar to 911) all the time for fun while I was at home. The police couldn't take it anymore and sent an officer to visit my home one afternoon. I was alone with my nanny and quickly sneaked into my bedroom, feigning an afternoon nap. The policeman came and knocked on my door. I didn't answer but was very scared then.

The police HAVE to come check it out and I applaud them for doing so. I remember when I was a kid, I had a friend with an abusive mother. One time he called 911 but couldn't really tell them much because his mother caught him on the phone, so he hung up. They called back and she answered the phone to tell them that everything was okay and they never came. You can only imagine what happened afterwards.....wasn't a murder or anything, but still.

One of my great grandchildren absolutely loves to get hold of his Mom and Dads cell phone. He's 14 months old but knows how to turn it on, scroll through the pictures and contacts. He is notorious for calling the contacts and jabbers away at them.

When he is through he hangs up and moves onto the next one.
