Are you monetizing your blog as well as promoting it? Social Media, forum posting with signatures, etc.?

As long as you can write, then perhaps you should look into creating your own ebooks for Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Apple, etc. There's a forum here for Kindle publishing, but it does cost to join.

You could also try writing for sites like Infobarrel.com - read the announcements in the forum on their new way to earn residuals and go to wahm.com that has a freelance writers forum as well as other dedicated forums where people work from home on there. If things are really difficult, is there any governmental assistance where you might qualify? Ebay, yard sale, etc. kind of thing might also be a choice you could consider.

Get your post count up here with helpful information to others so people get to know you.

Contact Web designers and let them know you're available to their clients to write Web content. They get asked all the time about writing services. It's a numbers game so contact a bunch of them. You might have to throw a little finder's fee to them but hey, so what. Good luck.

Web designers, not Webmasters. They're always getting asked about writing services. When they do recommend a writer sometimes, not always, they get a small percentage of your fee.

It doesn't even have to be a percentage, just an amount. and finders fees are used all over. Webmasters may even use your services. SOME dishonest people only recommend the person paying the highest fee, some recommend only those they really trust, and some won't recommend anyone. Offering a fee could sway them all to be more likely to recommend you.

Don't give up, there is a BIG need for a native writer that can even write decently.

We could all use a break every so often, but you're not helping yourself by simply bemoaning your luck.

You can help yourself by linking directly to your blog in your sig and posting more often.

One of the reasons you may not be receiving much attention from your WFH ad is that nobody here really knows you. You've only made a handful of posts in the time you've been a member.

This forum isn't just a place to put up an ad. It's a vibrant discussion hub that's brimming with potential clients. Let them get to know you and see how you write. Post more in the main discussion area or the specialist boards and show them what you've got.

If you want to be paid for your writing, everything you write - blog and forum posts, private messages, emails, texts, whatever - is an opportunity to impress.

Don't worry if you're not knowledgeable about a particular subject. There are plenty of threads where you can contribute usefully just from your own perspective. And this is a strategy you can start straight away for free.

You might also want to have your WFH ad rewritten to inject a little more pizzaz. As it stands, it doesn't really differentiate you enough from the pack of other me-too writers. Likewise your blog. It's not that it's worse than many others of its type, but it could probably use a revamp.

However, nobody's going to be clicking on your links if you don't get yourself - and, importantly, your writing - out there in front of them.

You could try some niche stuff like press release writing... or tackle the foreign market, "englishizing" for example a foreign software website. There are many that know English but are not native speakers, so there website and copy is poorly written.

Can I be really open and honest here, without offending you? It's easy to be misunderstood, in forums, so please appreciate that I mean everything I'm about to say with absolutely no hostility at all, ok?

It seems to me that you've been offered quite a bit of good advice here, and haven't actually acted on any of it, really.

Your own writing website is a little bit of a disaster.

I remember a long time ago that you had your own name spelled in two different ways, one in the heading and one on the home page, and that people pointed this out to you many months ago, saying in a friendly/joking sort of way "Hey, you need to be asking yourself whether people are really going to employ a writer who can't spell her own name". But (here's the point) I just looked at your site a moment ago, and you still have the same glaring problem there! (And some others that I know I've commented on before myself, even if other people haven't).

So I don't really know how to help you.

Maybe you have a name you can spell in either of two different ways, and you use both of them, but your potential customers can't be expected to know that, can they? You need to be either "LeOnna" or "LeeOnna" on your own website and stick to it, I think! (Preferably whichever spelling matches your PayPal account?). You maybe don't realize what kind of impression this creates? The reality is that this and other things on your site come across to potential clients as "carelessness".

I remember you well enough to know that I always thought your writing was perfectly adequate for the kind of writing work you were trying to do, but that you totally lacked marketing skills when it came to presenting yourself and getting any work.

And I'm afraid I still think that, now; sorry!

I think you could do a lot worse than go through every thread you've started in this forum (there are 17 of them) and read the replies really carefully and take note of what people say in them, and the links offered. I know that'll be time-consuming, but I really think it'll help you. There are a lot of people who've made good suggestions to you, you know?

Again, please excuse my coming across as outspoken. I'm only trying to help.

I think if you just do some creative writing here that makes people stop in their tracks and say "Wow, that was creative", without neccessarily talking about the subject of wanting to be a writer for hire....then people would click on your sig.

On another note, assuming you have done that:

If your web presentation is too much to handle, then just do a wso page... Your sig will always lead to it, you dont have to bump it a hundred times, and with a wso page you dont have the responsibility of having to have some kind of great website, because people understand that wso pages are fairly uniform, and they are use to doing business with the red and black colors. They are comforted by the uniformity.

I think it was Paul Meyers who once said that your colors should not change from your website to your sales page... because it jolts the system, just when people were comfortable and ready to buy from you. I would send people to a wso page instead. If they like what they read in your post, then give them some continuity and dont send them off to a different shocking color scheme and different atmosphere, interupting their experience.

If I ever link out of the forum, it's usually to a red, black, and white page.

When it comes to writers I think people are either impressed or not by your own posts, but if those posts are mostly about trying to get work as a writer... then not so much.

Let people "choose" you.

You are 300 short. Make that 350 that you will need if you are including taxes. 350*12 month means you are 4200 per year short. Florida minimum wage is 7.79. You need 540 hours at that wage to meet your goal or 10.4 hours a week. A weekday lunch shift at any ol' restaraunt (waiting tables, washing dishes, slinging burgers) will cover this. See if you can just get a lunch shift somewhere... anywhere... and that should cover your basic needs and I would imagine (though don't know your schedule) work out for pick up and drop offs. Also, check with your school for work opportunities. It may interfere with school, but school doesn't help if you can't eat.

In terms of writing, have you tried craigslist? How about put a donation tag on your blog? I really hope you get what you need.

Regarding luck, one of the best quotes is "Luck favors the prepared". If you have interests, or strong knowledge in an area, write about THAT in the blog. It not only attracts attention, gets you a higher rank, etc... But it will get some to hire you. Better a just OK technical writer for some things than a really good neophyte!

My business is similar in this area. I get most work because of secondary or tertiary knowledge than the primary area, though I have a great reputation THERE also.

Hey there, here are some tips for getting jobs writing:

On Fiverr, offer more words than other gigs. Notice how many words people offer, and just offer more. You will have to work harder, but it should attract buyers.

Also, paid advertising. You can pay to put up ads on forums like this, or on Flippa Classifieds, and it can work out really good if you put up a good ad and examples of your writing.

Do you have a "portfolio" website? If not, I would suggest making a nice blog with at least 3-5 examples of your writing and articles. Then maybe you can blog on there as well, writing about your experiences as a freelance writer. This might help you find customers.

But yeah, for me, paid advertising is the best way. If you don't want to pay, you can try to find people who run blogs who might let you do a guest post in exchange for a link to your portfolio site which should have details on how to contact you to hire you.

If, in the end, you simply can't earn enough from writing, you might have to forget about it and move into another more profitable form of making money online. This could be domain flipping, affiliate marketing, building up sites with alot of traffic to get adsense income, selling information products, trading stocks... Most if not all of these will require an investment, so you want to carefully pick the best one for you that you think could really work and isnt a scam. You can get ideas from the WSO section and others. Also, it probably wouldn't hurt to try these things while pursuing your writing as well.
