Parents are first institute from where everybody start its learning. So here I just start a topic in which you can share your most important advice given by your parents? And how it's help in your personal and professional life?

I learned from their behaviours which have always been admirable rather than any verbal advice they have given and I found that more valuable.

They told me that they loved me and that so long as I tried hard at whatever I persued, regardless of whether I was successful or not, they were proud.

They also taught me from a very young age to share.

"The world doesn't owe you a damn thing, Dan. You're nothing more than a cog in the machine. If you want something out of life, it's up to you to make it happen. You have to grab life by the throat and throttle it until it concedes. Now, are you excited about starting kindergarten tomorrow?"

    "Um...Yes, mom."

That they brought me into this world and that they can take me out, then turn around and make another just like me!

                Just kidding.

I did however actually hear a father say that to his son and it shocked me.

When I was younger, my grandmother had a couple on his routines on vinyl albums, but as a kid, they didn't interest me so I never listened.

I wonder if she still has them. Probably not, she's in her nineties now. But she does still have all of her Elvis 45s though, lol.

If you have a record player it would be worth checking with granny to see if she still has those albums. Before Cosby got on I Spy he was a hilarious stand up comedian. He had probably a dozen LPs. I remember Wonderfulness, Why Is There Air?, I Started Out As A Child, and a bunch more.

My family used to sit in the living room and bust a gut listening to these records over and over. They never seemed to get old. I believe that's where he introduced the Fat Albert character, though maybe it was in his live stand up show.

I still do have a turn table actually, lol!

Its from the early seventies and beneath the player is a light display that moves in tune with the music. Sort of disco-ish, lol. It is way cool. I am going to ask her if she still has them.

Never wear panties that are ripped or torn, or in any way look like you are poor or ungroomed.

This is in case you are ever put in an ambulance.

    seriously.

-- nothing about be careful crossing the street so you don't end up in an ambulance -

... just worry about what the EMT's think of your mother.

    every day. at all times.

My dad always told me "be careful as you go through life and your income increases. If you aren't careful, your lifestyle will tend to expand to equal your new found income, and you'll never save any money."

    Boy was he ever right.

I lived that exact experience through most of my 30's and spent all of my new-found big income, and it was only as I reached my early 40's that I started to fully understand the power behind those words.

I spent the time to learn more about myself - what mattered and what didn't. I settled on a satisfying lifestyle that didn't take an exorbitant amount of money. And as I rebuilt my business, I carefully ensured that my lifestyle didn't inflate with it.

My parents gave me a ton of advice growing up, but that's the one that stuck with me - maybe because I ignored it for so long, then finally realized the powerful truth within it.

Never trust anyone completely, never enter into a situation that you can't save your own ass because you can never tell when you'll be the only one who can (Dad taught me outdoor survival), mind your own damn business, and it's extremely unladylike to take your clothes off or puke in public, so if you're going to drink it, make sure you can get to a bathroom with decency if it's not gonna stay down.
