I think I'm going to go blind by the time I'm 30

I've been staring so long at a computer screen over the last year than I'm going cockeyed.

Does anyone else feel like they're going blind?

It's really starting to affect the amount of hours I can work per day.

Yeah, It does some real good overall to just unplug for a while, take a power nap, then go back at it.

      Here you go, Fin.

Fact or Myth? Sitting too close to the TV or staring at a computer screen is bad for your eyes.

Answer: Myth Sitting too close to a TV or staring at a computer screen for too long will hurt your eyes -- but only temporarily.
Much of the problem can come from the screen, because people staring at them for long periods of time tend not to blink.

"If a tear film is a little on the dry side from not blinking sufficiently...then the quality of vision suffers," said Rosen. "It's sort of a temporary phenomenon."
Some of the strain can be avoided, Chang said. If you are looking at something up close, it's a good idea to take breaks and look into the distance.
"I don't think people were meant to be looking at a computer screen all day long," he said, but "it's not going to cause long-term damage."

I was on a long bus journey yesterday and didn't look at the computer screen all day, but at night when I looked up and tried to watch the TV inside the bus my eyes started stinging.

I suppose I better start blinking more. Maybe I'll have a bowl of water next to me so I can dunk my head in every 30 mins lol.

          Lol, Fin!

May I recommend using lubricant eye drops instead? :p

The brand I personally use and recommend for moisturizing dry eyes is "Refresh Optive", I find it blows "Visine" out of the water.

When I saw the title I figured this was going to be a post about how sore your right arm is...

I hear ya man, I'm 34 and just had to start wearing glasses for the first time in my life. My eyes were getting red every day, it looked I just finished smoking a doob every time I left my office.

Do you think there's enough radiation in a monitor to make me into Wolverine? Because being Batman is cool and all, but if I could choose I'd totally be Wolverine.

Radiation won't turn you into Wolverine, but it might turn you into Spider-Man.

Yeah, I think the radiation from a pc screen will only make you irritable.

While you're correct, Kim, the key point was radiation. Wolverine is a mutant, a product of genetics (albeit part of his powers were scientifically enhanced). Radiation isn't going to get you a Wolverine.

Peter Parker, on the other hand, required radiation to become Spidey. That was my point.

In case anyone is wondering: No, I do not live in my parents' basement and, yes, I have touched a breast before.
