Is there a flu or something going around?

There seems to be a lot of people out here getting really sick. I don't think the Norovirus is still going around out here. Are a lot of people sick where you are? What is it?

Seems like nobody has any immune systems any more. I'd be scared if I couldn't resist this little crap going around all the time. What if something major comes around if you can't fight off a little thing like flu or norovirus?

Holy cow. Glad I have some resistance.

This is a huge and growing and extremely alarming issue in healthcare, and it's frightening how little it would take for it to reach a "tipping point" at some time, especially with all the antibiotic-resistant strains of things around these days. It's probably a far more realistic societal disaster-risk than the nuclear one, yet comparatively few people take any notice of it at all.

Alexa - people here in the US have completely zapped their immune systems - and actually believe that sunshine is harmful. I see very few people able to avoid the most benign of illnesses. Of course they believe very heartily in vaccines, and eat a LOT of chemicals, but still, there are times when something just starts slamming their heads into the ground. What I'm wondering is what is it that is tanking everyone in my area right now - and if anyone else has a lot of people folding to anything specific at the moment. We had a stupid little Norovirus go around earlier this winter and people were actually falling out from it. It's gone now, I think. I'm pretty sure this is something else, anyway.

In my opinion vaccines do a lot more harm than good. I haven't had a flu shot or vaccine in about 10 years and it is very rare that I get sick compared to when I used to get vaccinated many years ago as well as when I was in the military.

Funny, I haven't had a cold or the flu (that I know of) since I first moved to Las Vegas in 1987.

funny u say that kurt. was just there w my wife for nearly 2 weeks from late jan through early feb (3rd trip there in the past year) and both her and I got sick at the same time a few days after arriving...lasted 4-5 days. it's possible however, likely actually, that we caught it from someone on the plane or in the airport, but we fly fairly regularly and I can't recall the last time i had a cold. for whatever it's worth, we both had flu shots a few months prior (only the second one i've ever had, not sure if i fully believe in their efficacy)

The reason I remember is because I caught a bug twice in about 4 months. it had been at least a decade before that when I last had a cold/flu, so getting it twice within a couple of months really stands out.

Las Vegas is an "exchange" for colds and flu. People fly there from all over the World. Plus, if you gamble you're touching chips and coins everyone else has handled.

I lived in LV on and off for another 15+ years and never got the flu or a cold again, only those 2 times in the first few months I lived there. Although I did get an ear infection that every other person at work had to go to the Dr. for, but I was over in a couple of days without any meds.

You couldn't pay me to take flu shot. More people die of those shots than die from flu. Most people that die of "flu" actually die of complications. Consider the flu of 1918 that killed so many (I think that was the Spanish Lady?) . They had just developed aspirin and were prescribing it to help with flu symptoms. It backfired because aspirin will draw water into the lungs or allows it to pool or some such, and people were not actually dying of flu - they were dying of the pneumonia side effect. If I start feeling congested, I just go out and walk it out - clear my lungs out, so to speak.

Kurt - I'm pretty sure that your lifestyle isn't the same as the majority of the population. The last time I got really just dead out sick with something like that was in 1007, when I was working with owl pellets at work (in our biological supply department. Those things were nasty with all sorts of bacterias before they came out of the sterilizing process and I got overwhelmed - but it was bacterial, not a virus.

Good conversation but still wondering what the darned viruses are that are loose right now. Guess I'll go do some research.

LMAO. That's what my Grandson, Methuselah tells me, too.

Guess now that's been pointed out I can skip going back and correcting it.

Allergy season. Oh yeah. I forgot. Maybe that's all it is. I've been eating oranges everyday so forgot that it's the season for sneezin' . I learned how to deal with my allergies naturally decades ago. I'm allergic to almost ALL pollens, and dust, and animal dander. Used to be a mess this time of year. Fall, too.

It is quite normal that there are viruses going around this time of year. People tend to be more prone to respiratory viruses in the cold wet season as this is when your mucous membranes tend to be at their least protective AND people immune systems tend to be lower with shorter daylight hours AND people tend to spend more time indoors so the viruses spread faster between populations and mix their genes to make new strains that will re-infect people that have already been ill.

I was at a Vegan conference over the weekend and there was an interesting story about large pig and fowl farms that allow the influenza virus to spread and then jump the species barrier to humans easier due to close contact. Therefore, I have got from this that all of you meat eaters are responsible for this ;P

Factory farms need to be just shut down, period. Sell those pigs off to small farmers who will raise them humanely and in a healthful environment. Humans are omnivores and I don't believe it's a good idea to try to outsmart nature -- but I think we do eat way too much meat. It would be really good if we could cut consumption at least by half. I don't eat it every day and when I do buy it, I buy from local farms with grass fed/range fed animals. There's no excuse for factory farms to exist.

Due to close contact, maybe - not "due to eating meat", though? (Just asking!).

Alexa - animals in the US are fed antibiotics. We're trying to get that changed, but we're starting to experience "superbugs" out here because there is so much antibiotic in our food, water, etc, that it's becoming ineffective very rapidly (of course cows aren't fed antibiotics to keep them well - it's more to make them fat).

We're getting drug resistant forms of Enterobacteriaceae here now, including Carapenum-resistant. If people don't understand how to keep their immune systems keyed on high, they aren't going to have a good time of it as these things spread. Unfortunately, here in the states, the medical industrial complex is pushing the idea that getting vaccines for everything under the sun will keep you safe. They never mention the fact that they can trash your natural immunity. Our kids are now getting around 50 vaccines compared to the two or three we got when I was a kid. They don't even stand a chance.

My point (though tongue in cheek) was not that eating meat would cause the virus to jump the species barrier but that the factory farm conditions would act as a very nice incubator for viruses to share genes (sexy) and then the close contact with the factory staff who produce large aerosols when slaughtering or just cleaning up after the animals increases the chances for the jump.

My issue for meat eaters was the fact that if you eat it; they will produce it. If you want it cheap; they will provide.........possibly horse if you like eating poor quality beef products in Europe.

The only thing going on here is that it's pollen season. I'm no longer used to it and I don't think I'm fully over it yet. I used to not be affected by it, but that's what happens when you leave the place you were raised for 6 years.

Aside from that I hardly ever get sick.

Poisoned Skies Over Oregon - Another Outrageous Chemtrail Assault

Here is one from Oregon - Poisoned Skies Over Oregon - Another Outrageous Chemtrail Assault

The top post is not from me - somebody else named Patricia - and I have no idea what date 3-4-2 is or when this was reported.

It might be 'chemtrails' - who needs the flu anymore when we have so many other horrible reasons to be sick.

if you want something else to worry about - worry about the 'sky writers' and what they are spraying you with. (my question is are they killing us on purpose or just as an 'unavoidable' consequence - we all know sky writing is much more important than human life).

If you want to see more about this with reports from various geographical areas - just Google - 'chemtrails'.

On this site you will see 'facts' about every thing you ever heard that was scary.

Okay = there's another one I didn't think about. Yeah - here in central Oregon they've been spraying the snot out of us (apparently literally). Bromide and aluminum mostly from what I understand.

Ricky and I will go to the lake with the sun shining wonderfully on us, and after a few hours here come the planes and they just checkerboard the sky. I wait til the stuff spreads to render a beautiful clear day partly sunny then go home and go inside. Then I take herbs to leech the heavy metals out of my body. Most days the cloud cover clears after a few hours, then you have to clean the crap off your car, etc. I'm not sure how any lucid human can watch those things form and not realize that chemtrails are NOT conspiracy theory.

Why thaink ya, Steve. That's encouraging when younger men not only are tempting, but are the only type of men still alive.

Of course, more people die in extreme weather. Extreme heat is just as bad as extreme cold, but winter also is a season that people's Vitamin D3 supply gets depleted - and a deficiency in that is pretty deadly. There's a lot of reasons why cold is harder on us generally, though. For instance, people drop dead shoveling snow - that's a winter curse. I've NEVER seen anyone drop dead shoveling snow in the summer. Hypothermia can wreak havoc on those who can't afford heat, too. Just a few examples of why more people die in winter.

NOT FUNNY! NO! He died a bit later driving after he hit a telephone pole after a heart attack. I felt the pruning was too much exertion. Most SAW such large limbs, and he CUT them with pruning shears. But he was on the ground. These were shears for cutting limbs from the ground.

Stomach sounds like norovirus - that went around here about a month ago and everyone around me was sick. I started to feel funny but tackled it the first day.

Ahlairiue - I don't get vaccinations. Period. Even the ones that might actually offer any kind of protection kill off your natural immunities. Then unless you can kill it with drugs, you can't kill it. Then when it adapts to the drugs, you can't kill it and the drugs can't either - -- and that's when the excrement hits the air conditioning.

Meat is a double treat for us here in the states, Jajistan - our cows are fed GMO corn. If you don't get salmonella from it, you can still get tumors from eating it. Nobody on the planet wants our beef. I would think horse would be safer.

In all fairness Beef is one of the safer meats so long as it doesn't carry the tapeworm parasite in its meat.

If it is Salmonella that you are looking for then your best eating Spanish chicken eggs and if you prefer Campylobacter then British chickens should be your meat of choice. Up to 80% of UK Chickens carry Campylobacter jejuni as part of their normal gut flora.

I shall stick to my developing world "night water" fed salads if you please.

Anyway, going slightly off toic their. Following a conversation that I had today with a student visiting our lab; it really is interesting to see the patern of viruses that d the rounds at any given time. We were really lucky that the Swine Flu was largely a no-show last year.

Jajistan - when in doubt I just wash my food off with hydrogen peroxide then rinse it off after a bubbles for a minute or so. Meat I usually freeze for at least 48 hours. I like my dog to have some raw meat since it provides his naturally needed enzymes. I think one of the really stupid things about humans is that they think they can outsmart nature and they just mess things up furiously. They also get greedy and will allow major atrocities done to the environment in the quest for gain. All those antibiotics they developed did some major good for a few wallets - but because they were so profitable they got pushed hard - even though bacteria is quite adaptive. I've actually heard of doctors pushing antibiotics on people with viruses, even though they don't touch virus. I asked a doctor about that once. He looked at me for a minute and said "that's to keep the bacteria down that the viruses cause." Okay. Whatever.

We think of "people and environment" wrongfully. There is only environment. We are not separate from the ecosystems we inhabit and are complete fools for thinking we can "conquer" environment. We either learn to live in balance within it - or it's going to kill us.
