Some more evidence that we are now living in some kind of "Bizarro World"...

The milk industry wants to put Aspartame in milk, but they want to do it very very quietly

Yeah, ya like that one? Proven Damages - brain. Some people that shouldn't have their nose in our lunches have decided that kids are too fat, so if they put this highly toxic crap in kid's flavored milks and yogurts, etc instead of sugar, the kids will lose weight. No matter that they might also sport brain tumor masses the size of chicago. A what does a little more stupid hurt anyone anyhow. Congratulations, Mr. Rumsfeld. Your stock is going to soar. Sleep tight. I suppose you will. After all, it didn't bother you to pull strings to get it back on the market after it was determined to toxic.

God I hate politicians. I'm sorry - wild west would just be safer than this crap.

I don't think the "wild west" were as wild as today's conditions. Maybe change the phrase to "good ol' west" instead?

That's true - I got off on a rant and forgot to mention what I think about "without the necessity of labeling that it is in there". In other words - if it's flavored and NOT organic, don't touch it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can tell the taste of that crap in food. I taste that, and I stop eating. Period. I used to love ocean spray cranberry - then one day I bought a 4 pack to take with me camping. I took two swigs, said "huh?". I looked at the ingredients and there it was - - aspartame. I'll never put a bottle of Ocean Spray anything in my shopping cart again as long as Iive. If the company cares more about profits than producing a drink that is SAFE for their customers to drink - I don't care if that company implodes or what. They aren't getting my money.

They have a few other names it goes by so if you are against it they still have a chance to fool you into drinking it.........but up til now, at least it's always been labeled.

It makes me sick to live in a society so stupid they will pay to be poisoned -- as long as it tastes okay. Right.

I watched "I robot" last night, and realized that it is *****REALITY*****!!!!!!!! YEP, it has HAPPENED! Oh SURE, we don't really have the domestic robots, but otherwise, VIKI, in the US, is called the government! The robots that carried out her orders are the "public servants". Think about it! The SAME 3 laws at the beginning! The SAME 3 misinterpretations of the law at the end. The SAME results! If the government could act as fast as viki, and there were he same relative power, the outcome would be the SAME!

HEY, some are lactose intolerant! Why not make milk lactose free? NEVER MIND that it is considered one of the most perfect foods because of the balance of protein, FAT, and CARBOHYDRATES! The MAIN carbohydrate? LACTOSE!

What the milk industry suggested was aspartame or stevia or other no-cal sweetener.

        Milk was "milk"
Then it was "2% fat milk". Then it was "1% fat milk"

Kids actually like chocolate milk - but, oh my, there are calories -...the request is not an underhanded way to poison our society....it's an attempt to sell milk to people who are drinking diet soda instead.

I don't like the idea - but I'm not surprised at it.

You DO know what milkfat is called, RIGHT? It has had a name for centuries! The name? ***CREAM***! THAT is why they call skimmed milk SKIMMED milk, because the cream was skimmed off. http://www.californiadairypressroom.com/products/cream

So removing fat from milk is not that hard, because there is far more than can saturate the liquid, so it settles.

And people drink diet sodas for TASTE, and maybe to satisfy thirst, with effectively NO calories! People drink milk with the idea of NUTRITION. Science basically considers it effectively IMPOSSIBLE to have calorie free milk. It is mostly water, protien, fat, and carbs.

          water is WATER!
protien has 4 calories per gram
carbs have 4 calories per gram
fat has about 9 calories per gram.

          1 cup whole milk(3.25% milkfat)
          244grams
          protein 8g
          carbs 13g
          fat 8g

So almost 12% of it would have to be removed to make it calorie free, and almost all the rest is WATER!

CLEARLY, if milk has no calories, it ceases to be milk, and may end up tasting like dirty water. NOT a pleasant taste.

That is one hella excuse to load something with a neurotoxin and then not even put it on the label. The only reason aspartame is legal again (the FDA banned it at one time because it's TOO toxic) is because Donald Rumsfeld has mega stock in the company. I don't care what they want to do - they need to get their damned noses out of our food. Some of us prefer to ingest whole food and make every attempt possible to not ingest neurotoxins. Whatever the excuse - WHATEVER the excuse - it's not good enough feed people poison, especially unknowingly. I don't care what they say they are trying to do. Even the dude that invented aspartame won't touch it.

Most store-bought milk is worthless anyways, from a nutritional standpoint (even "organic" milk), due to pasteurization. And non-organic milk is not only worthless, but also somewhat toxic, due to all the poisonous drugs they inject the cows with just so they'll produce more milk (all of which wind up in the milk, to some degree ). Read this, and you'll probably never drink "conventional" milk again!

In my opinion, the only good milk / dairy products comes from non-pasteurized raw milk from cows raised naturally.

LOL - yup. But our "all knowing" FDA calls THAT dangerous.

It's only "dangerous" to the corporate wallets and subsequently the politicians they purchase.

The only good milk for HUMANS is human milk.

Cow's milk is for cattle. Human milk for humans.

People are lactose intolerant because of pasteurization and homogenization. Raw milk and raw milk products solves that one. The way the feds are attacking organic raw milk facilities, it's really hard to get, though. They don't want us healthy, that's for sure.

Shocking! I have read that Aspartame does things to the brain that makes you hungry and crave more junk food. It is a viscious circle.

A chemical is not food nor should it be in food.

Governments should spend more on prevention with education.

Causing food additction is one of the more benign side effects - it's a neurotoxin. That should scare people straight away from it. It's hard for me to think about people willfully ingesting neurotoxins. Being an endocrine disrupter is pretty moot compared to being a neurotoxin.

No way I'm going to ingest fecal matter from bacteria which is what aspartame basically is. So milk will be crossed off of my list. That's exactly why I just buy almond milk instead which is made by Blue Diamond (company that produces nuts).

It's rather disturbing as to why government/FDA can approve such dangerous chemicals as this but can't approve marijuana... I'm not a smoker at all but I'm just saying...

Stay away from that fluoride as well folks, that's just as dangerous.

I would think it'd be hard to grow free range chickens where there's so many snakes.

In Oregon it's illegal to sell raw milk to the public - so you can buy stock in the farm out near me with the grass fed cows, as a stock holder you are allowed 4 gallons of milk a month for 35 bucks. Range chicken eggs are anything but rare. Don't know, nor care about the Farmer's daughters, but I have heard them referred to out here as "corn fed"

I did not know that. Bluegrass and fiddling was a favorite at our general store (Alabama) and his fiddling was talked about when the guys got together. On hot summer nights those fellows would really work it up. Banjos and fiddles screaming till shine jugs were empty.

Never thought I'd be happy to be lactose intolerant, but news of this aspartame is just one more reason I won't drink much milk!

In observation of today's world it seems; the values in everything is decreasing, as the demands continually increase... and from growing up watching "Daisy Duke" as a kid- I think here in Florida many of them there... farmer's daughters (at least that I've met) might be easy to acquire, but the "Daisy's" - are far and few between.

My old friend/neighbor back in Loxahatchee, FL - had a bunch of chickens and roosters on his property - mainly to eat the bugs and keep em at bay in his yard... anyway, he didn't eat eggs, so we'd grab at least a dozen fresh eggs per week... Best eggs I ever ate!

I miss living on acreage, it was expensive and time consuming performing the upkeep on the property, but worth every penny to be just outside the hustle and bustle of West Palm Beach.

I've never been a milk drinker - but I spent much of my growing up years on a farm where you milked the cow, let the milk "set" for a while so the cream could rise to the top.

Then you skimmed off the cream (high calorie good stuff) for coffee and cooking - and you drank the milk.

That was safe and natural - but the problems with unpasteurized milk were in transporting/storing the natural product.

So many of the food problems we have is due to moving the food from one place to another - good reason to buy local produce as much as possible.

One of the many reasons to get rid of factory farms, too. Food from local farms is fresh, often organic, and the animals live normal lives instead of nightmare existences. Keeps money in the community, too.

Unfortunately - Monsanto just had another win against us -- with numbers of people who want their food labeled at the very least - and proof mounting that GMO farming is ruining us and the land -- our Monsanto stuffed gov, has struck ANOTHER blow against it's people.

Congress succeeded in passing Section 735, aka the Monsanto Protection Act, in the Continuing Resolution spending bill. Are we having fun yet? Holy cow. I can't believe this went through. I just can't believe we're into crony capitalism so far and deep that they will allow this crap to go on.

And here is the truth about the aspartame they want to feed us without labeling:

Those were the days. Some of my fondest childhood memories on the farm were taking care of my younger brother and sisters and showing them how to milk. Every morning before breakfast they would set beside me as I milked and told them a story about the farm animals and how we were all one big family. We are much older now. The girls are yuppie girls now. They don't get out of the bed unless their husbands are already up and coffee is ready.

Years ago we had a family reunion on the farm. I got up early to milk and went to the barn. Those two young ladies were sitting in the hay beside that old milking stool.. waiting on me.. smiling.. "Tell us a story BuBu."
