Default Hurricane, Gustav, Hannah, Video Loop.

Here is a video loop showing the current path of these two storms.

This is a result of a mistake I made in college.

I received some bad advice from a sophomore, who at the time was my roommate.

He said

"you dont need to see your administrative advisor, just pick some courses and dont forget to chose a science class."

Well I did just that, after all I was 19 and smarter than just about anyone, has that changed much?

I think most 19 year old college students think much the same thing.

I also took another piece of bad advice, from my roommate,

" dont worry about going to class the first 5 days, no one goes to class the first week"

So we went to the beach instead...

My first day in class, the professor greeted the class, and made the following announcement.

Welcome to Advanced Meteorology, for those of you that have been absent for the past five days please note
that you may only withdraw from this class on the first five days, for those of you that missed the first five days,
welcome to the class.

Needless to say, I was shocked, and stunned, after class I pleaded with the professor to make an exception.

He refused, he said, " young man, I suggest you open your book and your mind, preferably in that order"

While I did not make the top of the class, nor the bottom, I did learn a lot about the weather, hence I thought it would
be interesting to make this video.

Yeah...I was just looking at Gulf water temps and also the East coast off Charleston, SC.

Coast Guard buoys in the Gulf are showing mid to high 80's and the same off Charleston.

Depending on how Gustav and Hannah track the next 48 hrs...we could catch some MAJOR hell from the both of them...

The Weather Channel just had an update on Gustav...144mph peak winds. That's 1mph under a Cat 4!

KAY!

Better get your shoes on....

Shoes nothing - got the waders out!

If it helps any, talked to my son, the weather guy, this morning and he feels strongly the trend to the northwest will continue. We may get some of it but looking like we might be spared a direct hit.

I'm remaining hopeful - but preparing, too. I live too close to the water to ignore these suckers. Have to finish preparation today as I'll be gone all day tomorrow (heading to Hattiesburg for a family thingie). By the time I get home tomorrow night it should be clear whether I should get some sleep or hit the road.

Thanks for the video. I found the volume too low though.

I put this together for my own use, thought I'd share with you.

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

Hurricane Gustav Information

AL

Nice data,

I noticed that on one report from the HH, the track slipped just a little east, but it is wobbling, a little off center, you can see it is trying to reform the eye, but there appears to be an off center cell forming inside the storm itself, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

There should be an update soon on the lon and lat, be interesting to see if
it has shifted further because of the change in the center.
