Thank You, KimW...(not)

My household is blessed with not having a TV, so I was fortunate to not have ever heard of "Dance Moms" (hork, spit) until KimW brought it up as an example of "trash tv". That was clearly psycho-linguistic hypnosis (homage to HeySal) to trigger morbid curiosity in my mind. I understand that it surely couldn't have been deliberate, but involuntary spread of a blight due to contamination. I looked up on YouTube and I don't think my mind will ever be the same again after exposure to that toxic material. Is there an antidote to that reality-TV venom?

Oh, so you haven't seen "Honey Boo Boo" yet? It makes "Dance Moms" look like Shakespeare in the Park.

    Youtube it. I dare you.

    LMAO -
I just got contacted to see if I was interested in hosting a rockhound reality show. My answer wasn't "no" it was "Oh HELL no." I did find someone who will do the trick for them from my website members though. Waiting for him to tell me if he got it or not. LMAORFH. I abhor those damned things. I always pray that they aren't seen overseas. I don't want anyone to think of the US in that light...............I'm so embarrassed that some of my fellow citizens are that incredibly classless and ignorant.

I've only seen a brief clip they used as fodder on The Soup. Looks absolutely idiotic.

        Unfortunately.

Yes, people of the world, there really are americans who live like that

Can't prove it, but I think my wife puts those shows on to passively-aggressively punish me for all the sports I make her watch

Despite it being popular to bash TV, there's plenty of good stuff on. Turn to channels like History, Discovery, Animal Planet and NatGeo. I've learned tons of things I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Right now, I'm into the Vikings mini-series on History. It's really a rare show in that it is from the perspective of the Vikings. Most of our recorded history about the Vikings was written by the "other" side.

The Vikings were progressive in many ways, especially for women. Viking culture allowed women to inherit the land of the husbands and gave them many other rights no other culture of the time did.

I also just watched a very interesting documentary about Noah's flood. There's evidence that a comet hit the ocean about 2700(?) BC, causing 300 ft tsunamis. Also, the Black Sea used to be fresh water, until it was flooded by higher sea levels in about 5000(?) BC. Either of these events could have been the source of the legend.

Then there was another show about an ancient Turkish culture that build cerimonial temples some 1000's of years before the pyramids and before agriculture. It had always been assumed that agriculture created religion, yet these hunter/gatherers had religion before agriculture. This is a profound discovery that makes us rethink many of our theories.

      Kurt,
You are right, there IS SOME good tv still on, but the large majority is pure trash.
It is interesting that the ones you like and watch are basically the same ones I watch. Most of the shows that I call trash tv I will admit I rarely will have seen a full episode, because I cathg pieces flipping channels to find something watchable.

I Like The Walking Dead. I'm not as big a fanatic as a lot of folks I talk to,but itis good.
      I liked Breaking Bad.
I was a late comer to it, but I liked Sons Of Anarchy.

But too many people like mindless crap like The Batchelor and The Batchelorette. Dancing with The Stars (hell, most of the stars they have on now I have never even heard of).

Reduce the channels down to about a dozen and fill them with good shows and we would have decent tv back.
      Or at least a start.

Haha... too funny. Just yesterday I was playing with video software (attempting my first video, lol) and I used TV as an example... If people used the time spent watching 'reality tv bs' - to build their online business, they could be building a business, as oppossed to being entertained by such morally degrading garbage.

Sadly... I am now off to pollute my mind with "Dance Moms" - It can't possibly be as bad as shock (dot) com... a rather disgusting site, my wife and I found our teenagers looking at in the wee hours of the morning... *It's was the most grotesque website I have ever seen, by far!

I believe it's been shut down... and rightly, so! - I am still haunted by the "blue waffle!"

edit: Made it roughly 2 minuts and 50 some odd seconds in "Episode 1 - Dance Moms... and heard the word "accountability" spoken from a Mother of one of these children... Uh, Yeah... this looked a lot like child abuse to me... couldn't watch anymore!
