Are most athlete charities a scam?

    Yeah, it's too bad. Agents set up a lot of that stuff for P.R. Some are genuine. Joey Votto is sincerely involved in the community here, as is Bronson Arroyo. But a lot are shams. I read about Ray Lewis' foundation and he apparently never gives any time or money to it, it's all P.R. Too bad.

    It's not just athletic charities. A lot of 501-C companies exist mostly for the sustenance of the execs and owners of these businesses. A lot of them allow large exec salaries with only pennies on the dollar going to any benefit for the target group. I spend a lot of time researching a company (and charities ARE companies) before they get a dime out of my pocket.
