A Guy Would Not Be Allowed to Say This

I mentioned an article to my wife about how feminists have had a lot of infighting amongst themselves, some of which was downright abusive. My wife replied, "Of course! A bunch of women together, what do you expect?"

Some working relationships are really good, but I agree that far too often, a bunch of women working together can be awful. It's the really good friends you have that make the other nasties fade away into the background.

What I really dislike is the cliques that form and unless you are on the same wavelength or same tunnel vision, no one else is welcome and fair game for vicious rounds of gossip and innuendo. Far too big waste of time to be a back stabber and...I'll shut up now:p except to note I think that being honest and helpful to others leaves you no regrets later on.

This thread takes me back to the years 1969 - 1972. I worked in an office with over 50 women and only 8 or 9 men total. Being on the management team kept me fairly safe from the hair pulling and claw stabbing that went on every day. Sometimes it was hilarious and other days it was downright malicious and vindictive.

In trying to keep the work flowing and the gender killing to a minimum was extremely difficult. Because all these women were government employees and all managers were in the Marine Corps, needless to say there was no firing anyone, even when they stepped way out of line. Especially when the women all backed one another against the management team and sliced and diced them when disciplinary matters came up.

Just to keep the slicing and dicing to a minimum against me, in this thread, men can be difficult also, but not like women.

I am female and own my own painting company. Woman were cleaner workers than most the guys, but the gossiping and the talking got annoying.

I work alone now, and sometime I can't even stand working with myself. LOL

The thing that always struck me funny was that, the things my wife was saying about the women she worked with, those women were saying the same things about the women they worked with, which included her.:p

I call it the "tea party" mentality in business. Women had long term access only to their own social groups and once in the office, treated the office in the same way they treated their social invitation lists. Men have long experience in having to function amongst those they aren't really socially interested in to achieve a common goal.

I think things are starting to change among the younger women who were raised with the idea of having a career in the first place instead of being raised with the expectations of being homemakers. There's no help for the "old ladies", though, I'm afraid. LMAO.

And yeah -- you're right, men would get slaughtered for saying that out anywhere - by the very women who commit the folly.
