Lady Wins Lawsuits Against Terminator & Matrix Movies

Sophia Stewart wins lawsuit against Matrix & Terminator

This is one wild story. A lonnnnng battle and she finally won all rights. However, even with the FBI on her side it will be interesting to see if and when these companies have to fork over those millions.

That's crazy! I love those movies. Might have to read some of Stewarts work.

Would you believe that she doesn't have an internet marketing rep. She just won an award from Linked In for being in the top 1% of all Linked In viewed pages. With over 200 million people on Linked In that's quite an achievement. If she had an IM pro helping her with her global brand she'd be making millions easy.

That certainly doesn't tell all of the tale, plus the $150 million judgment was against her own lawyer, not against the movie companies, according to the 'About' page.

There needs to be more detail given in this story. It says she answered an ad - wouldn't that make the script a work for hire, and therefore, not constitute copyright infringement? Without seeing the details of that initial contract, we have no way of knowing the truth of this matter.

LOL! Tina, Sophia says if you want a copy of the judgement she'll send you one.

Can't wait to read the document signed December 4, 2012 by Judge Clark Waddoups that she said she'd post online.

Actually I have that document. Says just what she says it does.

OK, cool. She said she'd post it online too. Did she change her mind about that?

No I think it was because the court took so long doing what they were supposed to do. She needs to update her sight seriously I'll admit.

I am not a lawyer.

As far as I know, or have read, work-for-hire is not automatically assumed, just the opposite actually.

I guess I'll fully believe it when she is actually thus monetarily compensated. I've seen too much of this kind of stuff (with my own film industry connections) and weird twists and turns associated with it.

snopes.com: Sophia Stewart Matrix Lawsuit

I find a few sites like the OP's link who say "won" - and a lot of sites from the past few years saying "story is a scam".

I see another few stories about different people suing the same movies for about the same thing...

Wachowskis Lawsuit: 'Matrix' Filmmakers Sued For Allegedly Stealing Ideas

What I can't find (help me out here) is a single story about this "win" appearing on a recognizable news source. I find it hard to believe a huge judgment to an author involving major Hollywood box office movies...wouldn't be mentioned on the news.

I do see the report on the AfricanGlobe site along with the author's explanation that the story isn't in the news because

Quote:

‘The reason you have not seen any of this in the media is because Warner Brothers parent company is AOL-Time Warner…. this GIANT owns 95 percent of the media…
She said the media giant won't report on itself and has been suppressing her case for years....but there were a lot of reports about Murdoch and others in the news. What about the other 5% of the media - wouldn't the competition jump on this?

...and the African Globe is a highly questionable source that asks questions like "Is it too late for African people in America?". Of course, they aren't asking about "African people" they are talking about "Black Americans" - which gives you an idea of the mindset of the site.

Frankly, I don't see any story here. Any agent in literature or music will tell you that there's one hella lot of theft in those industries and you really have to have a lawyer go over things before signing ANYTHING relative to your own stories/songs. A lot of what you see - listen to has been scammed from talented unknowns....who remain unknown because of wolves. Nothing new under the sun here other than people don't understand the importance of having a lawyer BEFORE the theft.
