The police officer fatally shot by those mass-murdering terrorists in Boston seems to have been the epitome of what of a police officer should be. What a tragic waste.
MIT chief says officer killed by Boston Marathon bombing suspects was dedicated, well liked - The Washington Post

"... most of all, he was dedicated to being a police officer.

The baby-faced 26-year-old who authorities say was killed by the Boston Marathon suspects was at MIT for just over a year and impressed students and his colleagues with his contagious enthusiasm, be it offering students rides or volunteering for extra duties.

'Just the other day — and I still have it on my computer — he asked me if I would have a problem if he approached the homeless shelter to see if he could become a member of the board of directors, so that he could work with those people down there and try to mitigate problems before the problems develop,'MIT Police Chief John DiFava said Friday.
'The kid was the real deal,' he added."

Sometimes there is nothing as true as "Only the Good Die Young".

    What a tragedy...

    RIP, Officer Sean Collier.

Thanks for that article. I am so tired of hearing how some always bad mouth
police officers. One guy says his mother was mugged by cops, another says he doesn't
trust the cops/government 100% and he thinks it possible the video of these guys
with backpacks, just prior to the bombing, probably was altered, another says the
cops commit entrapment all of the time because they take preventive action and ask
a suspected terrorist if he will bomb innocent people, etc. etc. etc.

Not all cops are honest, and some are even nut cases; However, 95% are not, and
they put their lives on the line every day for us. It's about time we back them up and
quit portraying them as the "enemy. "

I won't put a percentage on bad vs good cops -- but I've met a few of both. It is a true pleasure to know one who is on the side of justice and views citizens as friends and neighbors. Those trained by blackwater, etc who are nothing more than killing machines are some of the most frightening people on earth though.

I'm really sad to hear of the fall of one of the good guys.
