Need Some Help With My Computer!

Hi.

I realize this is not a PC repair forum but I don't feel like making an account on a different forum right now. If this is not allowed feel free to delete the thread, sorry about that.

This is what happened to my laptop....

1. I buy a new Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse so that I can use my laptop from across the room.

2. I unplug the wireless broadcasting device.

3. I notice that certain keys on my LAPTOP'S keyboard stopped working.

4. I plug the wireless broadcaster back into my keyboard and use it for a bit and my laptop keyboard starts working again.

5. I remove the wireless broadcaster and my laptop keyboard stops working.

What I tried...

Cleaning the keyboard.
Re-seating the keyboard.
Turning off the laptop and holding the power key down for 30+ seconds.
Shouting.

Nothing seems to work. I am sick of using an external keyboard for my laptop. I need to get my laptops keyboard working again. I will really appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Have you thought of Googling the problem? Or checking the site website's help desk?

Yes. That's the first thing I did. Can't find the solution anywhere.

I think it is not a problem with the keyboard itself - probably something software related. I took apart each key that was not responding and cleaned under each one and still nothing. It's weird cause it started working randomly a couple times then stopped once I plugged the wireless USB broadcasting device back in.

I hate to say it, but keyboards have problems, and sometimes things go wrong. The keys can stick, the mechanism to push the keys back up fails, contacts can corrode.

Uninstall the Logitech program that probably installed with the new keyboard.

Then see if your laptop keyboard is working normally.

Reinstall the Logitech. If the problem continues, then
look for updates and driver updates for the Logitech - or
take in and exchange for a different brand.

Thanks for the reply. The thing is the broadcasting device is plug and play. I tried uninstalling and re-installing all the drivers I could find that are related to the keyboard but still nothing. I need to take my laptop with me on trips and it is very inconvenient to have to bring an external keyboard a long as well.

I might take it to a PC repair shop and see what they have to say about it. Replacing the built in keyboard with a newer version might work...

I will keep trying different things and update this thread when I find the solution... If I find the solution...

    Update:

I just tried reseating the laptop's keyboard and holding down the power button for 30 seconds with nothing plugged in, re-installed the keyboard, and still nothing.

The keyboard also does not work in BIOS. So, I believe that it is dead. Which is a shame.

I am now considering purchasing a replacement keyboard online or taking my PC to a repair shop since it still has a few months of warranty left.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?
