The meaning of life in a crazy, violent world!

With all the recent tragedies and violence going on in the world, I've started to think about the meaning of life. What do you think life means?

In the evolutionary sense, it's all about survival. But, there's more than that. Isn't there?

What do you think?

Let me be the first to say it.

    42.

Energy cannot be destroyed, only transformed. During material life we are supposed to learn to recognize, and learn to meld with, the eternal high energy forces.

Damn, beat me to it!!!! LOL

Before this thread gets too religious, and the mods get itchy trigger fingers, i'd better get in now, but l will avoid religion as much as possible!!!

Ok, this world as you have said seems to be getting worse, politicians, seem in the name of the environment or other reasons, are making things more expensive for all of us, (l am talking globally).

Doesn't really matter if the reasons are good or bad, throwing someone on the street is wrong, and will always be wrong, discounting a global disaster whereby we have to go without power for a week, that is acceptable.

I have done a bit of research and found that some free energy systems are genuine, as well as the threat of the oil company's sending thugs around to threaten you or worse, unfortunately that is also true.

So, on one hand we have these things that could dramatically improve our lives, and they are being purposely suppressed, because they work, and massive sums of money is involved.

This is also true in medicine, etc; So it seems that one party is doing everything it can to keep control and continue to make massive profits, while there is preventable suffering that could be stopped.

Where the other party's, independent scientists, etc, that are trying to tell the masses, these things exist! But the mass media won't touch it. But the worse or more expensive utilities become the more free energy systems get traction.

So, l do agree with Heysals, response, finding the truth and telling the truth is also a biggie!

Or not putting money above suffering or death!

    Rob,
I've started to think about the meaning of life.
It's a Monty Python movie, notable for one truly great, if somewhat screechy, quote...

"He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy."

And before I get into a rant about philosophical seagulls, Vogon poets, and sentient Coke machines, I'm going back to working on my next newsletter.

Erm, that quote was from a different Monty Python film, The Life Of Brian.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

        Well, hell.

Guess I preceded the mixed reference with a mixed up reference.

    Hi
Life is crazy means nothing, always enjoying the life. Always enjoying leads to crazy only. Life is not crazy, life is too dangerous, if we dont have life means we would not have any problems. For some people they always problems, just adjusting to every one. By adjusting to every one causes the problems only. So life is not easier.

It is better not to waste time in understanding what life is?
life is very short, do what ever it takes to make it a heaven, live your dreams, enjoy every moment of your life. Don't give a damn what worse is happening in the world.
You can't make others life good, make yours

The meaning of life . . . isn't it something different for each of us?

If so, then it seems to me the answer to your question is: "The meaning of life is whatever we attach meaning to individually."

    Too simplistic?

Life is absurd. The meaning comes from your own values.

Consider your birth...your geographic location, your parents, your body's genetics, your environment and upbringing. It's all either totally accidental or totally planned; I don't know which.

Why should I have been born comfortably in North America and been raised by parents with good values, who were both there for me? And some other guy gets born in Africa where his family has to struggle to find clean drinking water? By accident of geography, I start out in the place where money is plentiful, easy to get and valuable. I get easy access to education and good work. He starts in a place where the cost of living is low, but the value of his money is also low. He gets low-paying work and health issues in the land and water.

Do either of us deserve this? Maybe he's much happier than I am, close to his family and content with what he has. You know there is a lot of loneliness in big cities. Our struggles are relative and only measured by what we know and in our own heads.

Our enemies work just as hard as we do. The universe doesn't care. It'll wipe you out in a second and replace you with something else. Somebody posted a quote from Carl Sagan that I saw this morning:

“.. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the 'Momentary' masters of a 'Fraction' of a 'Dot' ”

That about sums it up for me. Our efforts and our "meaning' is all only for ourselves, and compared to the rest of the universe fades away to nothing. It's absurd.

    EDIT:

In the face of all this, I believe there's only one standard of value, and it comes out like this:

    Who have you loved?

I live in a cooperative universe that wants to help me while I'm here, but is also not going to bat an eyelid about killing me if I'm not careful.
