I had heard for many years that Miles and Jimi were planning to record an album. Having Williams and McCartney in the group also would have made for some terrific music I think!

    I think you're right Tim.
Years ago I had an album that Hendrix played on that was Jazz.
I wish I could remember the name of it. I do remember that it was as far from what Hendrix normally did as you could get, but was an incredible album.

    wow - woulda-shoulda-coulda- been great.

I didn't know about the new release of Jimi's music referred to @ the link.

I still get very upset about the things people said about Jimi's death trip. It was bad enough he died - and died so young - but (something here in the OT) talked about some ugly stuff that may have happened that I didn't know about - and wish I never heard.

funny how you feel like you actually know some of these Starz - and take things personally. i could actually start crying right now...

At the time of his death, there was much talk about him joining a supergroup with Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. The band was to be called H.E.L.P. (That isn't a joke BTW).

Anyway, the group went ahead without Hendrix (H), and the rest, as they say, is history.

So that blind people can hate them as well.

Jimi Hendrix was an awesome musician and the greatest guitar player there is. His personal life was not beautiful but it has nothing to do with his talent. In addition, his fashion is an inspiration for several rock stars.

Does anyone else find it weird that Jimi and other artists of the 70's had such huge influence and a lot of todays stuff is just so....bland?

It seems like talent is a lot more abundant now (or maybe we just have way more access to check out the talent).

Not many ground breaking acts anymore.

I don't know if there's more talent now, maybe better digital equipment that makes them sound talented.
I'm listening to Little Feats Waiting for Columbus album at the moment and I can't think of any current, new group that can hold a candle to them.

I think there was a lot more ground to be broken back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I think much of it came about because ground was being broken in our societies at the same time. Different cultures coming together as part of the melting pot created by advances in transportation, communications and laws in countries like the US.
