Most businesses say they provide good customer service, but do they really?

I would like to hear what you think constitutes good customer service.

What makes you go back to businesses?

    Customer service is simple...

    It follows "The Golden Rule"

Treat others how you would want to be treated...

    For example:

You go to a restaurant and order a soda. The soda has no ice and is flat.

What would you do? Tell the waiter to bring you another one or else you are not paying for the one you initially received, right?

OK, now you are the waiter at the restaurant and the customer says that his soda is flat, has no ice, and demands you bring him another one or else he won't pay for the one he received from you.

What would you do? I would hope you know...

Otherwise, just close your business now and save the headaches you will definitely get down the road...

See, it's simple. Give the customer what he or she wants...

    Within reason of course...

I can't explain it any easier than that...

    Hope this answers your question...

I guess you should always have a genuine interest in the customer, and put yourself in the customer's shoes with each customer interaction......... good point

Good Service is when you satisfy the customer with what he needs, where and how he wants it. This is the customer's moment of value.

It's about service after sales, most of seller can't accomplished this stage and this make buyer felt like they just want their money only.

  • Good customer service is all about the customer's experience with the whole business with every touch point (everytime they come into contact with your business).

I think it is about attitude. The person has to want to help you. They also need to speak the language they are giving support in, proficiently. Customer support should be a personal experience, not just an exchange of info.

      Fantastic, thanks arcdigital.

I agree it's all about attitude with customer service staff, and your quote "should be a personal experience, not just an exchange of info" is a great way to describe good customer service.

Simple. Treat customers as you would want to be treated. It should always be a pleasant experience for the customer so they want to come back.

Good customer service is listening. You have to listen to what the customer says, not what they want. Sometimes they dont know what they want, and they can't verbalize it effectively, so you have to listen to their story and figure out what their problem is.

I agre with Michael, Listen first, don't make assumptions about your customers needs / wants/ knowledge and experience. Listen first, then help the customer find a solution, then sell last.

  • If you have good customer service skills you will also have good sales skills because you will sell a service or product the customer needs & wants rather than selling a service or product you think the customer need & wants, or worse - you can aggressively or persuasively sell a service or product the customer never wanted, but you will never see that customer again!
