Isn't that too expensive? What's the conversion rate doing with everyone in here? Good business?
  • Profile picture of the author myob
That is actually a bargain. I often pay over $2,000 for some of my threads. The conversion rate in Italy is .68 of the US dollar. Where do you shop at to get such a good price?

Salvation army could save you fortunes MYOB. Jeans that are already broken in.....and the conversion rate on some of those is a year or two.

By conversion rate, I mean the number of people who saw the thread, and purchased the product/service.

Oh, I see now. When people see my threads they're always asking why I paid so much, and never buy. And I never try to change their mind; I just give my threads away to the Salvation Army, or to strangers who drop by. Do you need some threads?

If you spin this thread for awhile, it will turn into yarn. And being able to tell a good yarn is what makes a high conversion rate. Now if that boy (I forget his name "pimp" or something) had sat down and listened for awhile instead of wagging his tongue, he might of learnt something here. I think this here yarn is good for at least 20 bucks in a ebook, wadya think?

          You got a point there.
You need a good yarn to make a good sweater and this yarn may do.
Could be an ebook in there.

Can we turn it into a $2,000 conversion though? Maybe offer some points to knit the threads together once they are finely yarned?

Yea! I think we can do it. We'll really have to put a close knit spin on it to get that kind of a price, though. I've seen spools of thread as low as 42 cents each

You know how some people can be; they get their panties all bunched up into a knot when they think they got ripped off. I remember when I got my first threads and paid $2.000. They ripped off right after I was converted. Boy was I pissed! That's when I just became completely unraveled, and was arrested for not having any threads on. But, that's another yarn for another time.

Wow! What a wonderful loom we have here! From one raveled up thread, we have added stray strands of every color and kind, a bit of yarn, and are beginning to weave a tapestry of richness. (Not sheet)

Priceless. Well, at least it should sell for more than the patchwork on my back.

You could always go from threads to yarn to knitting to felting. Felting is quite "in" in the US crafting circles these days. Especially if you can comb, card and make your own natural fiber yarn instead of synthetic fibers.....

...makes you wonder if he even waited more than an hour before crying ripoff. Some people have no patience.

Felting? Now that's a yarn that I wanna hear about. Couldn't you get busted pretty easily for felting someone in public? Now that we've spun this thread into an exotic yarn, will it sell for more? Will it sell for more than if we did cover our asses?

I pay $60-70 to put an ad up on SitePoint Marketplace with the upgrades, $20 to make a special offer for WF members is a bargain. I bump every day or two, $20 each time, because the sales come in every single time, and even a single sale pays for the ad many times over.

That's exactly our needlepoint. A stitch in time saves 9. I would estimate one thread may have thousands of stitches. Multiply that by nine, and you have thousands of blankets, if you are in time. Now if you pimp those blankets with spun yarn from this thread you'll have riches in stitches. Conversion rates are much higher if you use felt. The guy left because he felt we were stringing him along, not because of any nonsense.

Why yes, Dan. Yes there is. Sew what? This is the OT forum and questions are immaterial materials in the OT forum, where we spin yarns, darn it all. It doesn't really matter - really it's ALL Anti-matter here. Had the guy been serious about marketing threads, he would have visited the Main forum, where threads are knitted differently and sometimes damned or praised, but rarely darned. They may even be less costly as he pays only 20 bucks a thread compared to Pauls quite extravagant 2000 per thread, which really be quite a yarn in itself.

Threads are actually big business. $2,000 is NOT an extravagant of a price to pay for threads. Especially when you consider threads are interwoven through every activity we engage in. In fact, when bundled together and marketed effectively, threads can be worth billions of dollars.

Google bought a whole bunch of threads for $1.65 billion. They were sold and bundled together as a "web site" named YouTube.com

So, Dan, I suggest you take this more seriously, because the web has blanketed the whole world. Get your material together, spin in some yarn, and tie into the world wide web. Hope you get converted.
