      I used to watch Carson mostly to watch and listen to Ed play.
      Johnny was a pretty fine drummer in his own right also.

          He was more of a hobby drummer, though every now and then he would play a little on the Tonight show.
          This was the only clip I could find on Youtube. I don't get the Lawrence Welk part though.

          At around the 2:30 mark in this interview with Mike Wallace he plays the kit Buddy Rich gave him.
