As bad as that is, they're lucky that was a pvc pipe & not something like a cast iron pipe.

I'd sooner be in the pipe than live in the minds of those who commited the act.

        Beyond words.

Judging from the size of it, it is not a full term baby so no telling how often it happens. In fact at that size, I'm surprised it survived "birth" at all. Looks like a botched abortion attempt.

Yikes! That was completely deplorable and unacceptable!

But what frightens me the most is the parents. If they have no regard for their own child's life, born of their own flesh and blood, but see it as sewage to be flushed to death for their convenience, then no one they encounter is safe if they deem that life to be inconvenient sewage to their plan or life either. Unless of course, they're cowards and only try to kill babies.

Either way, I think they should be locked up for life and only allowed to leave prison for their day job which would be working in a sewage plant where they have to wade through the sludge all day long!!!

There is more information coming out of this case from the Chinese press. The mother is a 22 year old unmarried women who tried to hide her pregnancy. She said that she unexpected gave birth while in squat toilet with a large hole. She then told her landlord about strange noises in the toilet who then called the police. She was present all throughout the rescue effort. It seems unlikely that she will face charges of attempted murder as first reported.

It is unclear whether the social services will hand the baby back to her. A lot of adoption offers have been received in the meantime.

There is often more to a story than first appears. In the case of this story, I wanted to wait for more information before making a judgment. Squatting is a very effective position for delivering a baby, sometimes too effective.Weird as it may sound, it wouldn't be the first time a woman has unexpectedly given birth while squatting over a toilet:

I agree that her story is a bit suspicious. For a start, she did not identify herself immediately even though she was present at the rescue.

This news simply made me sad and angry.

This is not acceptable; whoever is responsible for this deserves to be in prison for life. I am glad the baby survived.

It seems that they have just released the baby to the mother and the mother will not be charged.

One lesson here is; it's all too easy to be consumed with disgust and vent opinion well before the other side of the story has been established.

I should have paused for thought before commenting on something the press writes!

If true - it's sad. The one bright light was the child might end up in a good and loving home....not with a parent that didn't want it in the first place.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.
