Did Humans Really Eat Neanderthals? | Human Origins & Mysteries | LiveScience

Well, there are only FIVE animals in the same family as modern humans that are alive: chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans which that article said are killed for food. I heard that orangutans until relatively recently where a kind of myth. The name means person of the forest! I wouldn't think they would be eaten. And same for gorillas, gentle but could easily rip a man apart. I HAVE heard of chimps being eaten.

Neanderthals, REGARDLESS of what theories you believe, would have been smarter and capable enough to be a worse choice than the others.

There are also some differences that people couldn't really explain about people. Like for instance, WHY are some bloodtypes ONLY in some indians? Why are some ONLY in some africans? They are SO rare that they barely get a mention. The bloodtype system is often called the ABO system! WHY is the RH factor there? HECK, who knows about A and B? And you would think that rh- would be more prevalent.

Some have theorized that homo sapiens and neanderthals cross bred. If so, it could explain a lot of this.

Yeah - they crossbred. That makes it pretty sick and basically a form of cannibalism to eat them.......but there were tribes of cannibals here and there, so it's pretty possible SOME cultures might eat them. I doubt all of them did, though.

OH, humans have been known to eat almost ANYTHING, INCLUDING other humans. SOME feel that it is HONORING the victim! The question is if they hunted them all to extinction for it.
