My son, 3, pulled me by the hand, pointed to the sofa chair and said, "Sit down, Daddy." I asked him, "What's up?" He answered, "You'll see." Then, one by one, he placed two broken toy pianos, a toy xylophone, and a toy drum on the other side of the coffee table and started improvising to music on the stereo (such kids songs as "Coming Thru the Rye" and "Polly Wolly Doodle), simultaneously playing the instruments, actually getting the notes right.

He apologetically explained, "The piano is a little bit broken, xylophone has wrong notes. Sorry." I didn't answer him right way. I was a little stunned; he kind of freaked me out there. I don't have musical talent. That would have to be coming from his mommy. The xylophone is a toy, not adjustable, and not much can be done about those toy pianos either.
