One again we're off on a search for Jimmy Hoffa. Never mind it's been 40 years or that he was declared dead in 1982. Never mind the millions spent in looking for him every couple of years.

Do we care where Hoffa is? The only excuse giving for this search that seems endless is

You still have the Hoffa family," he said. "There is a son and a daughter who would like to know where their father is. You can't do a cost benefit analysis on a murder investigation.
The son and daughter of Hoffa are 72 and 75 - the killer has probably died of old age by now. What's the point?

A cost benefit analysis would show this is a huge waste of govt funds. If they find a body - then what? More millions trying to determine what happened and who dunnit?

I did see a little about this last night on the news. They talked about a guy who claims he shot Hoffa in the head. He told what house he did it in and where in the house. When the investigating reporter went there they tore up the carpet and used that chemical that can detect blood. They found signs of blood on the floor matching what the person said. They also said they couldn't extract DNA info from it.
I don't see where finding his body will really change anything at this point. but I guess it would be interesting to know what happened.

It's been all over the news here as it is happening very close to my house. Hoffa Body Search

      Mafioso Tip

I can't help but feel for the children regardless of how old they are though. If it was my dad, I don't care how long ago it happened, I would want to know before I passed away to join him on the other side of eternity.

I actually do hope they find him so many things can be laid to rest. Oh, and the FBI consider this a very credible tip/lead.

If the son and the daughter died, then problem solved right?

Sorry to be so morbid. I'm fresh out of watching 4-5 episodes of Game of Thrones.

I'm just waiting for the live broadcast of the final chipping away of the concrete with Geraldo narrating. Maybe Hoffa knew the secret to Capone's vault and had a note sewn into his clothes, just waiting for Geraldo to discover it and redeem himself.

Search has now ended - no body or bones found.
      What a surprise...not.

Give it a year or two and we'll have another "credible" lead and another goose chase.

I don't think it's about Hoffa's family or justice - it's about a few people who dream of being "the one who found Hoffa". If they are so interested, let them fund these searches.

These stories pop up because the name still carries a recognition factor.
That means it will get a little buzz, and may even support a TV special.

Remember the "Mayflower Madam"? I've met her a few times. She goes to marketing events I also attend. Her name (and what's she's known for) carries a little weight to this day. So she still gets the occasional speaking gig or interview. William Shatner recently interviewed her on his TV show.

But eventually, nobody will remember her 15 minutes of fame...and the same with Hoffa.

Although there really are "Mafia Groupies" (I'm getting that Trademarked) that will watch anything about crime.

Best TV comment on this story I've heard:

"Where but in America would we spend millions to dig up a body in order to bury it? Seems like we could cut out the middle man and call it 'done'."
