Baseball, makes you think for all them stats

Hey,

I have been fascinated by baseball since being a kid, love stats, they have information l enjoy looking at.

So many different stats, so many coach's teaching a specialty to his specific group. You name it they have a coach with advise on that position. Why baseball seems so simple.

But it is a complicated game that has odds for every pitch, play, hitter, each moment is evaluated by a coach and then a decision is made.

Wow, see l love my "Toronto blue Jays," a team that had Vegas featuring them as a potential win it all, due to their pitching staff...

Well not so long ago, they where 12 games under five hundred. But all of a sudden, the pitching staff started pitching, the hitters start to get them key hits... Now only 4 games under five hundred..

Will this success transform into a team that has a window of opportunity, only took it time...

Could this be the year of a Cinderella story, that makes baseball what it is..

Share your thoughts... thanks

Cheers,,,

Joseph

Sorry dude, I hate American league!

    Reds fan.
    Absolutely cannot stand the DH.

But, I agree with you about the game itself.
I hear so many people talk about how boring it is.
But, as you pointed out, there are so many possibilities hanging on every pinch.
Ball? Strike? Location? And if the batter hits it: HR, single, double, triple?
Groundball? does it find a hole for a hit, fielding error, throwing error.....

I cringe everytime I hear someone say "small ball".
    "Small ball" IS baseball!
It wasn't designed to be a high scoring game.
The HR is supposed to be something special.
If want HRs and high scoring games go watch softball.
Give me what Marty Brenneman calls "A good ol' good one."
    A pitchers dual.

    Good luck to your 'Jays.
Maybe we'll see a 'Jays - Reds Series.

IF the Reds can figure out how to beat the damn Cards!

Baseball is a great game with a kaleidoscope of things that can happen on every pitch.

I played organized baseball until I was 16 at the shortstop position.

Growing up, I created a very cool baseball simulation game and even played it with my high school coaches.

Whenever you wanted a man on base to try to steal a base you had to yell...

..."GOING" at the top of your lungs.

I'm an Orioles man myself since the late 60's.

Are your Blue Jays good again?

The last time that happened (I think) was in the mid-90's.

Maybe if I have nothing else to do and there's nothing else on the tube, I'll watch a full game or two this season.

I haven't done that in years.

The only thing I don't like about baseball is when they throw at batters just because the batters are giving the pitchers a hard time.

    I think it's juvenile.

      Cool.
I was a shortstop as well.
I once read a quote that said; "A shortstop would rather make a game saving play than get a game winning hit."

Congrats! Once a shortstop always a shortstop.

My fav defensive play was to gun someone down like a dog from deep in the hole or to get the cutoff throw from left or center and gun someone down at the plate.

        IMHO...

Todays' great shortstops are clearly better defensively than the SS of the past.

Their quicker - with more range and have much better arms and now that great play from deep in the hole has become almost routine.
