Jennifer Lopez sang "Happy Birthday" to the leader of Turkmenistan during a show, but her representative said she wouldn't have performed there at all if she had known there were human rights issues in the country.
The whole story:

I agree with the OP. Entertainers should, when ever they get a paying gig...research the kind of government that rules the country they are going to..

And never sing "Happy Birthday" to someone you haven't completely vetted.

Before I sell someone something, I make sure they are the kind of person I can be proud of...none of this "Getting paid to do your job"!

Thanks for posting this Treasonous Act. We are going to get to the bottom of this...

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

How does the word "treasonous" come into play here?

        Help me.

I suspect that Claude was being Claude, I mean facetious. That's how I interpret his post, anyway.

OK, I think you're right since he also added that we'll get to the bottom of this etc. so he simply can't be serious.

            Thanks,

They should follow the same thought process as someone with a normal day to day job. We wouldn't do anything unethical in our offices, so why should they even though they're big and famous.

Ha! Yes, I was joking. Sometimes, when someone says something so outrageous that I find it amusing, I'll "Over agree"..seeing how far I can agree until even they have to say it's ridiculous.

Some statements are so inane I just can't bring myself to treat it seriously.

                  Sorry for any confusion.

I'm a businessman. This flaw in my personality has cost me sales and a few friends.

I sorta "jumped the gun" there and didn't read your entire statement.

And money doesn't talk for anyone else. I hate those people that work for money.

I don't mind one bit how or to whom and for what price the 'entertainers' sell their product. However, I think what annoys people is that the 'entertainers' tend to insert them into all sorts of political/moral/personal issues ALL the time. Then they go ahead and make hypocritical decisions like this.
For example, being anti-gun while collecting checks for shooting people on screen. Or being feminists while promoting islam and so on.
I assume that's what OP is pointing out - the hypocrisy of it all, not that someone shouldn't be allowed to sing/dance for some random guy.
