"North America" is an excellent series. I really enjoyed it.

I love stuff like that. Prairie dogs just make me laugh. In our yard we have chip monks. I put out nuts for them, and watch them play and fun around.

One of my wishes before I go is that one would not be afraid, and just eat out of my hand.

Thank you for posting, and making me smile.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

I was trying to get one to eat out of my hand at our last house before we sold it. Didn't quite make it, but was getting close. He'd take a potato chip or piece of cookie off the toe of my shoe. He'd sit on my deck about three feet away and look at me while I held it out with my hand, but wouldn't come any closer until I put it on my toe.

I had a robin that would come when I called it and hop up on my arm though. It was a youngster, but old enough to fly. The first time I "met" him he flew down out of the tree and landed on my dog's back. As I took the dog in he flew up and landed on my head. He let me take him off my head and put him on the ground. Ever since then he was my buddy and would come down from the trees when I'd call him (I called him Peeps, highly clever and original I'm sure).

I have one video of him running up the driveway to me. If I can find it I'll post it.

Glad you guys enjoyed this post.

I had a job as a courier. At one of my stops I had a lot of wait time and there was a huge colony of prairie dogs in the field next to the parking lot. Their communication skills are amazing - the different noises and body movement... Very intriguing.

THANKS! That was cute! Did you see the pup fall on his back after s/he jumped up? Something was kind of cute about that.

    Claude,

I have a number of chipmunks too. I never thought about feeding them, but maybe I might. You never know if they have a disease though, or might just up and bite you, so maybe it is good they don't get too close. They are nice to watch though.

I did see that pup fall over. All species' babies are cute.
