I as of know work for for a restraunt that pays 11.00 an hOur. Its only 20-15 hours that I get scheduled for each week.

This job allows you to move up and make more money but it is not likley to get full time hours always part time. ( I N - N - OUT ) Burger

Now I have a high chance of getting a job as a coach cleaner for amtrak which pays 10.50$ a hour and guaranteed full time hours. As well as a raise in 90 days to 12.00$ a hour and mechanic training for after 6 months..

I cant work both but I am just wandering what others thought about switching careers.. Does anyone know what coach cleaners do?

Let me know if you think this is a good decision.

Any opportunity to get out of the restaurant field, you take it.

Any opportunity to secure full time work over part time work, you take it.

    So there you have it

Ok this might sound weird, but sleep on it. Tonight before going to bed, put that question in your mind. And keep doing that til you get an answer...

What's making you hesitant about changing jobs? There must be something before you're asking here. Try writing down the pros and cons of each, but at the end of the day it has to be something you feel inside is right for you.

I would assume a coach cleaner - cleans the train's coach cars. Just guessing but sounds right.

Part time in a restaurant is a job - not a career.

Let's see - if you stay where you are you earn maximum $220/week with maybe some raises along the way - but always part time.

If you change jobs you go immediately to earning $420 a week and then to $480 a week AND by doing a good job you can move into engineer schooling and a better job in the next year or so.

        What's to think about?

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.

    Easy decision.

Working for railroad companies is good money, I know CSX starts out at $25+ for welders, I looked into the job years ago when I was a welder.

  • Increased pay, opportunity for promotions, free training, vacations using the train as a way to get there without paying the tab, retirement benefits, great health and vision benefits, savings plan, etc.!

Will the restaurant give you anything like that? What's to think about?

A friend of mine, in Colorado, owns an auto repair shop.
He mainly works on Land Rover/Jaguar products and heavy equipment.

A good mechanic with him can make $100,000 per year.

Easy decision, coach cleaner. If your able to get into Amtrak and move around, it'll probably be one of the best career moves you make. I was an engineer and it was the greatest job once I got comfortable with operating trains carrying many passengers.

The benefits were good and the railroad has excellent pension plans.

    Go for it!

Can't wait to hear how you made out. Good Luck!
