Opinions please: would a support group for people with Chinese spouses be needed?

I lived in China for 5 years and have married a wonderful Chinese woman. There are certain challenges that go along with marrying into Chinese families, and I created this little test site to see if there is demand for a support community for people with Chinese spouses. I would just like to hear from the Warrior community: Do you think this is a silly idea? The site didn't take long to make, but I don't want to put effort into something that is fundamentally a stupid idea.

      OK, well I see my link's been removed, so I can't show it to you. You think the premise is alright?

    I have no idea: are they violent, or alcoholics, or something? (I can get away with that, without anyone taking it seriously, right? :confused: ).

    My guess is that a support group for people with Chinese fiancé(e)s might be a possible market, because of all the various international visa situations, working-permit regulations, tourism issues, and so on?

      That made me laugh. I wouldn't think that there is enough of an audience thinking they need a "Support group".

      But it would make an interesting book, I think. Then you could gauge interest in the subject.

      What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

      Well, that is likely to vary A LOT! In the US, a legally married spouse of a citizen is generally allowed to be here, work, etc... Of course, Chinese laws COULD become a concern.

      A US woman married a moslem once, had a child, and her spouse took the child to a moslem country. She effectively became a prisoner! She couldn't go to get her child because she had NO rights. The child wasn't HERS, but her HUSBANDS, so the entire country was on HIS side. They made a movie about the ordeal.

      <snip>
      Alexa meant that humorously, but gist of the question is actually legitimate. Why do you say "support group"?

    It seems to me you'd get a clearer and more accurate picture of whether this idea of yours will fly or not if you asked an audience with a much higher percentage of Chinese.

    And don't call me Captain Obvious.

    I went out with a guy that was Chinese - and I could have used a support group to teach me how to use chop sticks. I thought I was going to starve to death since he only wanted to eat Chinese.
