TradeMark infringement question

Once eBay wrote me a "mean" message because my url had the word ebay on it. I had to shut the site down.
Now, if I publish a course "How to sell on eBay", is this a trademark infringement?
If it is, it looks to me there are plenty of products citing trademarks.
Does anybody know? Couldn't find much on google.

Your product can be called "How to sell on Ebay" - but using "Ebay" in your URL can be considered confusing to customers, in that they may think that the info is FROM Ebay itself. You just have to be creative with the URL and use advertising to let your customers know what you have for them.

I once owned an url that had ebay in it. I was going to do an "anti" ebay site similar to some of the anti Wal-Mart ones. Just sick of their policy changes for sellers. I actually owned a domain exactly like one of the biggest anti wal mart sites only with ebay instead of wal mart. Decided against it because it just didnt seem worth the risk. ebay might not look like as big a bully pr wise as walmart would taking down a little guy. They can make your life hard even if you could somehow win because of their deep pockets. If you are looking for some info on what you can or cant do check out tabberone.com. She has had success taking on some large companies like the NFL and winning. But I think in the end a trademark in an url is a no win situation.
