Female vigilantes in India join forces to fight rape

NEW DELHI -- Eight young women dressed in red tunics and black scarves make their way along a narrow lane in Lucknow's Madiyav slum in northern India as young men move quickly out of their way, avoiding their eyes.

The girls reach a house at the corner of the lane: Two go in and emerge with a young man. Preeti Verma, 17, has a hand around his neck and pushes him toward the girls who then pummel him with slippers and their fists. No onlookers intervene.
I love this at so many levels.

I also see where this can get out of hand. But for right now, "You Go Girls!"

So they ganged up & beat a single guy that didn't do anything.

In the US we call that home invasion & the resident can use deadly force to protect their family.

Not exactly...In the US as long as you are wearing a hoodie you just have to be walking home and they can use deadly force.

However...sorry but in a lot of third world countries if citizens don't take action a lot of people get away with things. Seems like the case if you read the article. Doesn't look like they do any great bodily injury - more power to em.

The article said the girls went into the home & removed the guy from the home, that's called home invasion in the US. Walking into a home (in the US) & the homeowner doesn't want that person there gives the homeowner the right to shoot that unwanted person. I'm not sure If that's a federal law or it's a state by state law, I know it's the law in SC (US), it's been on the local news long before the media picked up on hoodie fad.

It's a comparison, I realize the girl mob is in India.

In the US you'd go to the police and maybe get a restraining order from the court if someone was harassing you. It doesn't work that way in India. There are cases where girls have gone to the police to file a rape case and ended up getting raped by the police.
