It is now the time to plant your garden ( if you live in a State that has seen it's last frost) Are you going to be more self sufficient this year due to the economy or continue as usual?
I like to plant Beefeater tomatoes and Bush type Cukes and whatever my wife and son wants to finish it out.

I left a party a bit inebriated and planted my car in someone's garden once...don't think they were too happy about that.

Still to early here, Memorial Day weekend is when we plant.
      I don't know yet what I'm doing.
I usually wait to see what my friend has to much of and plant that.
But pretty soon I'll be eating fresh asparagus and then I have the red raspberries all summer. Apples in the fall and all sorts of stuff that is now wild from old farms. Pears, chestnuts, strawberries all over the place. Damn, life is good

I just go to the local farmers markets for locally grown fresh produce. There is no sense in me for tearing up my lawn and try to grow plants that only die and rot. Been there done that. Grass is much easier to grow.

myob, please don't try to grow chickens. They don't last long once you cover them with dirt.

WOW Thom - your asparagus isn't ripe yet? We've been eating fresh out here for almost a month - didn't realize the timelines were THAT different between E. and W. -- especially at like latitudes.
