I'll go just as long as I'm healthy and be able to take care of myself without anyone's help. After that, no, thank you.

I want to die at about 80. Once the brain goes I hope god takes me cause it ain't worth it. Living ain't worth a damn if you are suffering...

I feel exactly the same way.

As long as I am well and able to support myself without having to bug the rest of the world then I will be happy to keep going. If it goes downhill to the point that I will depend on others or medical equipment to survive and keep going... niet!

Agreed. I'd like to have fun for as long as possible though, not just take care of myself.

    I'd consider anything under 90 a disappointment.

I honestly wouldn't mind going today. I've put up with this planet for 54 years and it hasn't always been fun.

Now with my luck I'll live to 105 and watch all my friends die before me. I'll have to bury another son because he'll probably die before me, I'll have to live with anal leakage and lack of urinary control and end up wearing diapers so I don't leave a stain on the seat cushions at the nursing home, I'll wheeze and hack from lung disease, walk around toting an oxygen bottle for the mask over my face and will have to give up my driver's license because I can't remember which pedal is the brake pedal and which is for the gas!

Live into my 'golden' age? Ha! Nothing golden about it except the puddles I'll leave behind!

When I start crapping my pants when I'm not paying attention, I'll snuff the life out of this worn-out husk and go back to the mothership.

No matter what you say now, I have yet to see the death of anybody who really wanted to go. Most people will tolerate hell on earth rather than go to find out if there really is a life after this one.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.

I've seen several loved ones who were more than ready to move on.

Life is good - but a better afterlife is always better.

Of course, if you've been 'less than pleasant' in this life I can understand why you wouldn't want to see what you have waiting for you...

I'm not concerned about dying, its going to happen.

I just know that when I die, that will be when all the cool stuff starts.

I picture my dying as something like this...

In my bed at home hopefully, with a nurse and minimal medical equipment, just the heart monitor, maybe an IV. The tv going in the back ground, friends/family around, the heart monitor getting slower and just as im about to die, on the tv i hear "WE GO LIVE TO THE WHITEHOUSE WHERE ALIENS HAVE LANDED ON THE FRONT LAWN"....beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Anywhere between 80-100. Even if I live beyond I won't complain. As long as I can do the things I enjoy doing, I'll be happy.

When my mom went into hospice, she made the decision to not be given any liquids or nourishment of any kind. She was tired of fighting cancer that would eventually win.

She slipped into a coma, where she gratefully stayed until passing away three days later.

She was ready, Art, and she believed that when we die, that's it, lights out, no after life or anything.

I have a feeling she was mistaken and hope she was pleasantly surprised.

It's great to hear different experiences. I wasn't peresent when any of my wives or children died and all of the deaths I did see were in hospitals.

I can see how a great belief in an afterlife would enable someone to leave this one more comfortably.

I still want to be somewhere else when my death occurs.

I need to live at least 1000 more years to complete my current "to-do" list...so I will say, 1100 (100 years of basking in the glory of a completed to-do list should be enough).

It's quality that counts, not quality. I'd rather live 1 awesome years than 100 bad years. But aside from suicide, it's not up to us to decide when we go. Oh and apparently we'll all be going 12-21-2012 anyway. :p

My grandmother lived to be 100. I was the only person left in her life. It was miserable for her, and sad for me.

My grandfather went at 94. When he was 92 I asked him to tell me about growing old from an old person's point of view. He said that it was okay until his health began to fail, which happened for him at 87. Of course he had my grandmother until he died. After that she was alone, and it went down hill for her from then, on.

Personally, I don't much care how long I live. My preference is based on how long I can enjoy life. I've been involved in meditation most of my life, and I have had some incredible spiritual experiences. I believe that I/we are eternal beings. This life is just a step stone.

I'm still in pretty good shape and close to 30. As long as I don't wear out my body parts I'd say 75 would be great then I'd like to go in a skydiving / sex accident.
