What's the alternative? The site is leaking radiation into the ocean continuously. Problem is - no one knows quite how to clean it up. Those fuel rods need to be contained.

There is no neat solution and no solution that doesn't carry a high risk. But doing nothing isn't an option, either.

    It's a mess.

It's to late - the rods (or some such) have sunk into the earth. It's now uncontainable. MSM has yet to report on the danger that people are in, yet some doctors have been doing studies and it's estimated that 14,000 in just the US have already died from complications due to the radiation. It's considered a disaster that dwarfs Chernobyl at this point.

Good old Infowars - big statements, poor facts.

Water is continuously pumped over the spent fuel rods in attempts to keep them cooled. These rods must immersed or encased - a big and risky project but walking away isn't an option.

The "scientists" Infowars says are "credible" are anti-nuclear activists....the study of "14,000 deaths in US" has been debunked.

where do all the dead people come from?

Here, from the abstract, is the chain of reasoning: "U.S. health officials report weekly deaths by age in 122 cities, about 25 to 35 percent of the national total. Deaths rose 4.46 percent from 2010 to 2011 in the 14 weeks after the arrival of Japanese fallout, compared with a 2.34 percent increase in the prior 14 weeks....

Projecting these figures for the entire United States yields 13,983 total deaths." In sum: Sloppy statistics killed 14,000 people.

Kay - I don't read Infowars. I don't remember where I saw the studies posted about the 14,00 deaths in US - but I didn't study it very hard. I've been watching radiation flow maps. Anyhow - Your links here are enough to convince me that the death report was a sham, or grossly erroneous at the least.

The plant is in much worse shape than we've been told, though. 300 billion gallons of contaminated water a day - and unit pool 4 is still in really precarious shape. ENE news is my source for that.

I say the rods have already sunk because in one place I read that there's no control rods - in another place they say the rods are touching, etc and so forth - but that quote (its on one of the pages in the following link, don't remember which page) - that there's no control rods........something still isn't being reported quite accurately. The rods are either touching, in danger of breaking, whatever -- or they have sunk, which would mean "no control rods". Which is it? I read "sunk" on FB somewhere so pulled up this link to look around, and I'm thinking they might be right -- sunk. From all the other input on the situation........I think it's a foregone conclusion that it's no longer containable when they start to talk about springing major bucks on an icewall although they have no clue whether it will work or what the reaction will be. You don't make moves like that when the situation is containable.

        Anyhow --- here's the link:

This is no different than any other media outlet putting out info and providing the source of that info. I see no where in the report where INFOWARS is originating that information??? So what are you talking about??? INFOWARS puts out stories from many sources having CONFIDENCE in their readers to do their own due diligence. They also then get follow up information from sources tied to their prior posts. That is how the alternative media works.....when they find unique news they put it out to the public (THANK YOU!!!!) and then see what additional sources will come forward to CONFIRM or DENY the prior report. As they get additional sources and additional details they write follow up reports....works great if you understand the process.

The big problem I keep finding from the typical uniformed is their complete "acceptance mentality" (they were programmed into from their prior years and years of mainstream media addiction). The INFOWARS Team already operates from a mindset that a reader, of their reports, THINKS FOR THEMSELVES and will do their own due diligence. A person who is a free thinker handles news reports very different from a person who has a codependent approach (from too many years of FEEDING off mainstream media hog trough of deception).

No you are not getting my point at all....I pointed out that INFOWARS did not originate those 14,000 dead from Fukushima studies (they only reported on what the study was claiming). Your post I challenged was bashing INFOWARS as if THEY created the study themselves...they did not.....simple.

What is the big deal with defending Infowars? Lots of people follow it and I have no problem with that. I don't think it's a creditable news source nor do I believe much posted on natural news for that matter.

That said, Infowars has some good insight on occasion - and I've said that before, too.

Radiation Expert: Enormous amount of contamination flowing from Fukushima will probably imperil entire Pacific Ocean -- Threatens other countries, food chain -- Absolutely can reach U.S. and Canadian shores (VIDEO)

Anand Naidoo, CCTV anchor: From what we know about what is going on at the plant right now, is this going to get worse?

Dr. Janette Sherman, radiation expert: I hate say this, but yes I think it will. And my concern is the enormous amount of radioactive material flowing with the water into the Pacific Ocean. And we know that the ocean flows northward along Alaska and down the coast of Canada and the United States. And I think it probably will imperil the entire Pacific Ocean, and the the sea life that's in it.

CAPTION: Leak may imperil other countries, food chain
Naidoo: What you're saying here is that this water can actually reach other shores, can reach other countries as well?

Sherman: Oh absolutely, we already know that.

Naidoo: The radioactive content in this water -- does it dissipate, or does it just stay in the water all the time?

Sherman: Well both cesium and strontium have a half-life about thirty years. It takes 10 half-lives for each of these isotopes to decay down to nothing. We contaminate the plankton, and that's eaten by shrimp and oysters and fish and mammals. And as most of these move up the food chain they get concentrated. Particularly strontium-90 gets concentrated in the bones.

France gets about 75% of its power from nuclear plants. There are other countries that use nuclear power for some or all of their power production.

In Japan, the catastrophe happened. To me, debating nuclear power or what "should have" happened is irrelevant when talking about that disaster. Focus and action must be on finding ways to contain the radiation and limit the ongoing damage. That plant had multiple fail-safe features but those are only good until something unexpected happens and all the features fail.

There is ******NO****** feature that can work when it fails. And they KNEW that, on that basis, they had *****NO***** safety features! Was it waterproof? NO! Was it built to withstand like a 10.0 earthquake? NO! But they KNEW they could have a 9.0+ earthquake, and they KNEW that such an earthquake would soak the plant and they KNEW that all other "safety features" had a fair chance of ending up GARBAGE, if either happened!

They really were INCREDIBLY stupid! The world should probably do SOMETHING about japan and this nonsense.

This tends to be true of disasters.

Even in most big plane crashes, there's almost never "one big thing" that causes the disaster: these things happen when 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 small things all "unaccountably" go wrong/fail at around the same time, each of which on its own would be inconsequential and barely even worthy of comment at all. Possibly, it seems; but very much less likely to than not having a Fukushima clean-up, and that's the only alternative against which it can/should meaningfully be compared, at this point, I think? (I realize you weren't implying otherwise: I'm "just saying"!).

Where there is radiation, there's disease. With the masses of poisons being sprayed on Americans - and stuffed into their food, and poured into their water -- the only way we can know for sure is to watch the radiation maps and know who got hit with what levels, and for how long.

I think I was the one that brought up this topic - and I don't remember the source. I had been watching the reports on the plant, and had run across that, so I brought it up not necessarily as etched in stone, info, but as something to consider. It may have been a very factual report or complete BS - I'm not sure. But we sure have to think about it, because that crap IS hitting us.
