Traditional herbal arthritis/inflammation "remedy" proven carcinogenic

This is because of something called aristolochic acid, found in a genus of plants called "Aristolochia" which includes a plant called "birthwort" from which these unlicensed, unregulated herbal remedies are extracted.

The FDA originally warned that these could cause specific cancers as long ago as 2001, but they have so little legal power and influence that these unproven "remedies", never tested in legitimate clinical trials, are still widely available.

The new development is that a team of genomic sequencing experts at Johns Hopkins University, partnered with pharmacologists at Stony Brook University, has now revealed a specific "mutational signature" - a new and very promising type of medical research - which can prove with certainty that a specific toxin is responsible for causing a specific cancer. Maybe, possibly, eventually, someone will find a way of taking this appalling, unproven, toxic, lethal garbage off the market?

Noooo, this is clearly a conspiracy plan put together by pharmaceutical companies that want to sell you their products instead of letting you buy herbal remedies. Isn't it obvious, Alexa?

I mean, come on, herbal remedies are the future. I have an uncle who lives on Mars and who swears by the fact he used some herbal product to cure his lung cancer, even though he smoked for about 60 years and had no health problems (which goes to prove how smoking is harmless, hello...) He rubbed that stuff all over his chest and in a matter of weeks he was cured!

Alexa - they aren't doing anything over here about the things they DO have the authority to stop - such as water fluoridation or glysophate on crops, or GM foods, or bromine in breads, etc - aspartame, which is pure unadulterated poison that was banned twice but back in our food supply thanks to the powerful guy who has all the big investments in it.

So if they start targeting something like this one before those, it's because of an agenda, not because they are worried about our health.

It's kinda up to consumers to learn what they are doing - either with food, water, dr's prescriptions, or with herbals. Society in the US is pretty much a CYA situation - and it doesn't matter if you are eating, drinking, curing yourself, or going to a physician. You have to be aware, and research what you are doing because nobody else is going to take care of you.

As far as herbals and natural cures -- there are a LOT of ways to kill yourself with them. Consider just the spice cinnamon. There's two kinds - one called ceylon cinnamon and another that starts with "s" - can't remember what the full word is, but don't need to -- it's toxic and shouldn't be eaten daily. It has a chemical in it that can tank your liver. I avoid it but will eat small amounts once in a great while, which is safe to do. Incidentally - it's usually the only kind of cinnamon you find on grocery shelves in the US. You have to go to a health food store to get the safe ceylon cinnamon.

Now not only do I love cinnamon in many of my breakfast foods, I also use it as an anti-inflamatory for Ricky. Now, wouldn't you think that something on the spice rack in most grocery stores would be safe? I could not only have killed my dog with it, I could have shut down my own liver functions pretty easily, too.

And what about foods sprayed with glysophate? Studies show that very small amounts are toxic and the EPA just allowed hundreds more times deadly concentrations to be sprayed on our crops KNOWING FULL WELL that it is dangerously poisonous.

The fact is -- this gov at least, doesn't care if we get sick. People have to educate themselves about everything they are going to expose themselves to if they expect to not get into disease causing toxins.

That said==== thank you very much for putting up the link. While I've never used that particular herb before (actually, I don't think I've ever HEARD of it before), you saved me time in researching it for Ricky's arthritis if I had ever run across it elsewhere.
