Drone Recording Virginia Bull Run Crashes Into Crowd (VIDEO)

Looks like that we are about to enter the era of the "flying guillotine"

Add this incident to the controversy surrounding drones.

A drone recording a bull run in Virginia crashed into the crowd over the weekend, and reportedly injured four or five people.

The Washington Post said that they were treated for minor injuries at the event, according to the local sheriff's office, and were not taken to the hospital. "It just hit a dude in the face!" one commentator could be heard saying when the drone crashed.

The drone was not recording video for or being operated by local television station WTVR as Poynter originally reported. Rather, the station captured video footage of the drone hovering above the sporting event before it dipped into a group of spectators. Steve Baron, who works for the station's parent company Interactive Content Local TV LLC told The Huffington Post, ""[We] just caught the moment on video – we don't use drones for anything."

Public debate around the technology — which employs a pilotless aircraft being controlled remotely — has intensified in recent months. There have been calls for more regulation of civilian drones, while the FAA recently ordered the University of Missouri's drone journalism program to shut down until it obtains authorization to use drones.
