humanity has low self esteem

We are willing to risk fortunes and human lives to excavate shiny stones from the earth, but will sit by and watch starving children starve to death.

Are those so called precious metals more valuable than the life and potential of those children? no
would it cost fortunes to reach out and actively ensure these children grow to their full potential and contribute to society? no
Does anyone have to risk their lives to pull these children out of these conditions? no

but yet we find it more worthy of our time to do this for non-living stones. This is not to say the resources pulled from mines are not necessary, but aren't our most precious resource the people around us who have the potential to create products, provide services and discover things that help all of us live better lives.

It's all because the human race has little respect for itself.

we don't think we are worth taking a chance on so we don't think they are either. We don't think that our life and existence alone is worthy of fortunes, we feel we need shiny stones from the earth to complete us.

this is why although we have found a way to invest in almost anything else and make it profitable thus scalable(even things that are only virtual and don't really exists), no one takes the time to invest in other people and make it profitalbe, so everyone can join in.

When we learn to turn helping other people into profits, then maybe the rich and wealthy will pay attention and finally start doing something about the thousands of children dying for no good reason.

    Dude - some countries with a hell of a lot of starving kids are getting billions in aid for them. Unfortunately, the governments are not giving it to them - so go talk to the dudes that are stealing that aid from the people.

    What's your point? Who exactly is this "we" you refer to? Every day there are literally trillions of acts of love and kindness in the world. Why didn't you post about that? There are plenty of people on this forum and in the world who do plenty to help children and others. I think your post is waaaay on the melodramatic side.

    SO, if Steve Wozniak had just soldered a couple resistors together, would you pay for them? I mean he WORKED, RIGHT? You RESPECT his work, right? The fact is that NOBODY would pay for it! Sorry Woz! But they certainly lined up when he did it with a purpose, and created Apple.

    So WHY should everyone drop everything to help the kids of some person at the other end of the planet that had the kids in an impoverished area, etc.... KNOWING that they would be a burden to ALL? I don't even know why countries, like the US, help out those in haiti, etc..., but not next door. I mean supposedly close to 20% of the kids in the US are malnourished.

    But your idea that all should stop until they are fed is pretty silly. WHO will grow the food? Who will feed THEIR kids? Are their kids there only to grow old and be slaves to the other kids? What makes THEM so special?

    Are you really even in Texas? If you want to help people in haiti, etc.... Donating to howard buffet might be your best bet. He teaches them to grow their own food. He is a concerned multibillionare with a very rich father. If you want to help the people nextdoor, and they are in some way incapacitated, GREAT! If they AREN'T, refer them to a food bank, and possibly train them or something. of course, you can always donate to the food banks. Just make sure you do SOMETHING so that YOU don't become a burden in the process!

    BTW are you upset because you left at 15, are hungry, and can't even get a snickers bar?

    If you haven't seen this movie you should.
    It's billed as a comedy but, it is too close to the truth.
    It scares the shit out of me because it is exactly what's happening.

    No offense, but I wish I could call you and mike judge idiot liars. I swear, it seems to be getting worse every day. I once went to a mental ward to see a friend of a friend. I went to some old folk homes that had people with dementia. Heck, my MOTHER got advanced alzheimers and I visited the special ward SHE was in. I CAN'T STAND such places. Still, it is seeming more and more like the outside world is too similar to theirs! And the PC(I am NOT referring to computers) education, praising regardless of achievement, unconditional charity, casual sex, propaganda, misplaced priorities, etc... really ARE doing the OPPOSITE of what darwin said got the human race to this point.

    The government is just out for what they can get NOW! They don't care WHERE the government is headed. Sometimes, they are VERY open about that and STILL, they stay in office. INCREDIBLE!

    BTW I have been cleaning out my place, and found documents I got about 30 YEARS ago, and they talk about the EXACT same problems we have NOW! And what of a movie on youtube called "make mine freedom"? SIXTY FIVE years later, we STILL have the SAME problem it strove to stop and used an example that occurred so much earlier.
