Strange Unexplained Sounds Heard.

Most of you know that I am all about sounds. Especially Sci-Fi type stuff. So naturally I'm drawn to these types of news stories when a strange sound is heard by the masses, but no one knows what it is?
But then of course out of nowhere comes an "official" explanation, but I usually don't buy them.
What do you think this sound is?

News story here.

It may actually be structural Earth changes and/or Earth reactions to the Solar activity and magnetic shifts. Some say underground tunnels construction, Project HAARP activity, fracking, etc.

I have watched many of the Youtube videos and here is a great source to follow these stories (from an award winning independent reporter).....

Sal was referring to this politely as a euphemism for very friendly neighbors noisily engaged in vulgar group activities with a whole lot of shaking and moaning going on. It is actually becoming a world-wide phenomenon.

              Yeah, but

It's not even the real google page. All it says is:

The search starts on the LMGTFY site, but the actual search results are on Google.com . . . if you had JavaScript enabled I guess. Most do.

I'm guessing a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a toothache or perhaps a kid learning to play a tuba hooked up to some monster-sized speakers.

It certainly sounds rather other-worldly, but if it is some company grinding down their scraper blades, that could easily be proven by doing it again with newscasters and recording, wouldn't it? The workers doing it could be interviewed, if in fact they were.

      Sal,

Since this comment resulted in a string of "what the frack is fracking" questions, I thought I'd pull a little paragraph off the web. But no, there was no fracking going on when the sounds were recorded.

"Hydraulic fracturing, commonly called fracking, is a procedure used to extract deposits of oil and gas from depleted wells or from geologic formations where conventional drilling is ineffective. Millions of gallons of water mixed with toxic chemicals are injected down each well at high pressure, fracturing the underground rock formations, forcing the oil or gas to the surface. Fracking has been used in California for more than 50 years. The Western States Petroleum Association estimates that more than 600 California wells were fracked in 2011.Fracking is also associated with large releases of methane, a potent greenhouse gas..."

These sounds have been heard all over the world for several years. Speculation in some circles ranges from UFOs, the Aurora stealth aircraft (which reportedly flies at speeds exceeding Mach 6), and residual ancient Mayan 2012 prophecies indicating a delayed end of the world scenario as the astral planes begin to crumble and fall away. The "official" explanation is also quite plausible, as financially-strapped cities worldwide are reduced to grinding down their scraper blades instead of quietly replacing them as they did during better times.

In the Mia and Pa, version of Lethal Weapon they tended to say "frig" a lot. Although in the official DVD, they say f......

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it, among all these far more interesting perspectives, but to me it sounds for all the world like someone grinding down the blade on a grader just around the corner from where the noise was recorded. I'm afraid it's a desperately unimaginative, boring theory, entirely devoid of conspiracies, alien life and ecological disasters. I'm not even sure it was worth mentioning at all.

Especially since that's precisely what is stated at the end of the article cited by the OP:

On Friday afternoon city spokesperson Alisa Thompson said she had a simpler explanation — it was a city worker grinding down the blade on a grader.

"The grader blade needed to be straightened. Kind of gets ground down, and it makes a very strange noise. It's as simple as that," said Thompson.

"The video, the YouTube video, is actually right around the corner from the arena, and that's where our employee was doing the straightening."

Well, some people really do have great difficulty accepting "official" explanations.

People all over the world have naturally grown to be skeptical of "official" explanations due to the fact that so many of them at times sound even more ridiculous and far fetched than the supernatural sounding ones.

Sometimes people just have to wonder what the governments think about our intelligence level when they address us with their official scientific explanations to let`s say, unknown sightings in the sky observed by thousands as moving from left to right, up and down, and then disappearing... a meteor? Really? Lightning? REALLY?

Or as to why thousands of birds drop dead from the sky all over the world on different dates... Fireworks? Ugh...

In this case however, a sharpening of a blade does not sound too far fetched, and could very well possibly be what it was. I wasn't there physically, thus it's hard to tell from a video recording. It does sound like a dinosaur though.

I'm quite skeptical that the worldwide decibel level from grinding grader blades would be enough to cause thousands of birds to drop dead or make objects dance around in the sky. More often than not, there is a scientific and logical explanation for such phenomena. Do you really believe it's all supernatural woo?

Just got back and found that many don't know what fracking is. Wild. There is huge debate over this mining process - it's dangerous. Many areas which are experiencing strange sounds like "booms" are finding that it's from earth shifting due to fracking. Look at post #24 and you will see the correct definition of fracking.

Incidentally - I was just kidding. The sounds in that video weren't that strange - humans and musical instruments. It wasn't so "strange" as "unpleasant".
