Roman Pirozek Jr: Man decapitates himself with his own remote-control helicopter | Mail Online

I have been heavily involved with RC helicopters in the past few years and the RC helicopter community have just received some horrible news. An expert flier was killed by his helicopter after a stunt went wrong. This is the third death caused by a RC helicopter this year. Unfortunately, this was bound to happen. The helicopters have got bigger and more powerful over the years and the stunts got more and more dangerous. The video below was made by the person who was killed flying the helicopter that probably killed him. As you can see, there is no way the flying can be described as safe.

I don't view that as "flying" - he's just "stunting" and I can see how it would be dangerous. At least he killed himself - and not someone else.

Many things - toys, tools, machines - can hurt or kill you if you use them in a reckless way.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.

      Right Kay, he wasn't flying..

Cars too kill and even guns, it depends on the usage.

If that would have happened 3 times here the Government would have banned RC flying or reduced the power. Anything to kill the pleasure. RIP.

WOW! I have no problem seeing how that type of stunt flying would be dangerous to the observers and the person flying it.

At the speed this RC was flying it would be extremely difficult to correct any type of misjudgement or a stunt gone wrong.

I was amazed how fast it moves, l thought that initially it was faked somehow, but no!

This is like a small lawn mower heading straight for you, bloody dangerous!

You could use these things in wars, fast, difficult to shoot down and deadly!

This stupid person only needs to slip up once, and by by fingers or worse.

I hope l never see some stupid individual with his kid, doing this nonsense.

I came back from the city on a train with an adult or teenager, screaming, repeatedly. I didn't ask what had happened, but did hear on the police phone that a tragedy happened, that was enough!

I have seen this happen, parents get blase about safety and after one lapse moment, child dead!

Individuals and parents especially need to wise up!

I feel for the ones that have already been affected by these things, or pushing their luck.

I don't feel any sympathy for the dumb ones that are doing this now, unless they are in a car, (toughened glass cage, etc) with no one else around, then fair enough!

YEAH, imagine the centrifugal force required in the first part of the film. If the engine cut out, it could head full bore towards the camera.

I can see it now! They will OUTLAW it, like california did with fireworks, or license it, like the US did with CB!

That video posted by Brian John was of Tareq Alsaadi, who is reckoned to be the top stuntsman today. He has lots of admirers but I never liked the way he flew. A large proportion of crashes are due to mechanical failure and you can never trust your equipment 100% however good you are.

We all know that rc helicopters could be dangerous but it seems that some people have turned it into an extreme sports where they get thrills by putting their lives and other's lives at risk. Here is another notorious video by an ex world champion flying indoors.

Not only is that happening, you have got people getting very young children to do it!

4 year old Min-Chan Kim RC heli flying - YouTube

Yep, not surprised, but l won't watch the video!

Some parents think that nothing will happen to him or her, until something does, then it can be tragic!

It is like the invincible teenager that pushes his luck and ends up wrapping his hotted up car around a tree!

The thing is if the child screws up and the thing heads straight for him, what is the parent going to do, step in front????

All he can do is grab the remote and hope that it stops before the decapitations begin.

As Steve Irwin has shown, you can be as safe as humanly possible but, if events are risky and luck is against you, then it can be fatal.

If it happens again, l will read about it in the paper, don't want to see a dumb parent putting his child at risk!
