I find it curious that so many people use strange ids instead of names.
I can understand it in the main forum to a certain extent but when you do pms and offer help, I would have thought it was only courteous to tell the other person your name.

I use my nickname as Laurencewins because it uses my name and was the url for my old site.

Am I too old-fashioned to expect names to be used when talking one on one?
Or is everything a matter of hiding behind ids and social media and sms language instead of good English as well?
  • Id's are in my opinion somewhat of a spill over from days gone by where everyone wanted to remain anonymous. I.E. in chat rooms. Id's are still used allot in dating sites (so I hear), and on Twitter etc. However Facebook has changed much of that whereby most, if not all, are forced to use their real name, with a nickname as an option.

Laurence: A good friend of mine, Lukenslager957669 and I were talking about that very subject. We were amazed that both Hophinklenads and Crinklpops564 were having trouble sounding credible as internet marketers.

We still can't figure out where the problem is. I'm going to PM Dopplepantslighter, and find out what he thinks.

      On a more personal note:

      My name means earth...boring!

      So, I like this better.

T is for time, you give to friends.
E is for excellence, your passion, your drive.
R is for reasonable, your understanding way.
R is for righteous, you know when you're right.
A is for accepting, your forgiving nature.

When I found it, I couldn't help but think how fitting it was...for me anyway.

Um, Claude? Your name is Latin for lame.

So I found this for you.

L is for little, the little things you do.
A is for acquaintance, the many friends you know.
U is for upstanding, your inner-self.
D is for desire, your thoughts do aspire.
E is for easy going, no ruffles here.

A name of a person drives his personality according to me. The first impression you get when you see the name of a person makes an image in your mind of that person.

Usernames like evilblade, fastandfurious, rockithard refers to aggressive people while usernames like candycane, pinkmiley sounds like... You know!

So a username presents your personality a totally different way. Checkout my username i.e twister85. I've kept that because I just keep mixing things and twisting them together to get something else. But that doesn't mean I'am twisting minds.

I just want to say we should really use our real name while doing business. Difficult to change your WF username? No problem you can always write your name below the username as I did.

    Have a great week everybody.
