US dismantling libraries

Virginia county library system destroyed 250,000 of its own books

    Not surprising since VA has shown that it can be one of the crazy states when it tried to pass the mandatory ultra-sound law for women seeking abortion.

      If you had read the article you'd know
      They take books out of circulation when they add new books.
      The issue is instead of donating the books to an organization that resold them to help fund the library, they started to just throw them in the dumpster.

          By the way I still think it's asine to throw the books out and I'm a little suspect OF the books they threw out. One was a Harry Potter book and one had to do with the Lord of the Rings.
          Makes me wonder if the content or titles of the books aren't the reason they took them off their shelves and decided to dump them instead of donating them.

      GEE, you should LOVE virginia! It represents a fair part of the area called Washington DC!

    That librarian should be fired. What many libraries do when they retire books is to hold a book sale and try to sell them first - that makes money for the library. The books that don't sell are then donated. I can't imagine someone with so little respect for books working, or being allowed to work, in a library.

    Well, I have a HELL of a LOT of respect for books. I would NEVER dream of doing something like hollowing out a book for stuff or any of that. BOOKS ARE MY FRIENDS! I feel like heck when I see a hollowed out book. I cry! Whoever did this should be fired in 1 minute or less here.
