Core 3. 16 GIG RAM. Thing is blisteringly fast. Took me all of 60 seconds to setup
my in house network between the two PCs. Was so simple even I could do it.

Now all I'm waiting for is two items.

1) EWQL Symphonic Orchestra which is coming from California. It's been a week
and a half and nothing. I know mail is slow but sheesh.

2) EWQL CCC2. It's a 7 program package that's so big it gets shipped on a
1 terabyte external hard drive. It's coming from NV by Fed Ex and the due date
is 9/14.

Can't wait to start up my new Royalty Free Music business. I'm chucking "How
To Make Money" IM crap and going into something with a demand that doesn't
promise marketers they'll make a gazillion dollars overnight.

So glad to be out of that business. It sucks.

I see only great times ahead as I strive to be known as "The Composer For
The Gurus."

I'm still running Windows 7. That way I know it'll communicate with my other
      one with no problems.

Can't wait for my software to arrive. Pretty soon you'll be calling me "Hollywood

Since this is the Main Discussion part of the forum, let's talk music and marketing
because I know there is a demand for music for videos. What I don't know is if
the big marketers already have an in house staff for this. Or do they not even
bother with music for the videos?

I've seen a number of royalty free sites and quite honestly, I'm not blown away
by any of them. Most of the available material is so-so at best. I'm thinking that
if I go above and beyond that I can get a piece of the market that is more,
how should I say, premium customers. Don't know. It's unexplored territory and
            I'm starting from scratch.

Scary and exciting all at the same time. Like when I first started IM about 10
            years ago.

I have come across two people in the UK who work from home producing backing music for TV ads and Drama series. So it is possible. I would think you would need to network and meet these people face to face to get your foot in the door.

Good luck with your new business.

Well, I'm not exactly looking to break into TV. Right now I'd be happy to create
music for marketers who need it for their videos. I know it's specialized but I
think between my marketing background and music background I'm more
qualified than somebody who just knows music and nothing about business.

                But, we'll see.

Ah, you're familiar with the EWQL products?

I have the following either coming or already in my possession.

      Hollywood Strings Gold
      Symphony Orchestra Gold
      Symphonic Choirs Play Edition
      Goliath
      Hollywood Brass Gold
      Stormdrum 2
      Pianos Gold
      Ministry of Rock 2
      Solo Violin
      Spaces

I also have Cinesamples Cinebrass Core which is also very good.

I'm using Cubase 7 and I'm very happy with it. I've never had this kind of
control and flexibility with my hardware based recording studio.

Looking forward to making some amazing movie scores.

    Congratulations Steve.

Sounds like you are re-inventing yourself and your business. I know you are savvy enough to know what you are getting into. I am sure you will be a success.

If this means you will be sending no more emails, then this is a sad day indeed. I certainly have learned much from you being on your list.

Did you go Windows 7 to windows 7 or did you upgrade form XP to 7.

Were you able to move some of your old programs to your new macine or will you just use it for your music business.

Go upward and onward, Steven. You will continue to do well!

Mike, I've been down for so long because of my business tanking that I've
been MIA a lot around here. Just didn't feel up to talking business. But if
this works and I actually make a living doing this, I'm going to come back
here and outline in detail EXACTLY how I did it. Since I won't be selling
anymore "how to make money" products I think it's the least I can do for
all the help I've gotten from other members here who are still successful
today. It's what happens when you build your business out of a house of
        cards.

        Lesson learned.

I actually have two computers now. One for my everyday stuff (this one)
and one JUST for the music. I have them networked so when I finish a tune
I'll just transfer the file from that PC to this one where I will then do whatever
I need to do with it (upload it online, send to customers, etc.) The other
PC won't have any business related stuff on it. I want to keep it absolutely
        clean.

I did have a Windows 2000 PC that I was using just for games. The new
one took the place of it and the 2000 is now going to the basement after
many long years. I just don't have time for games anymore. I'm going back
        to working 14 hour days.

But at least this time I'll be doing something I really love. I already have 29
tunes completed for my new business and that's in just about a little over
        a week.

This is going to be one hell of a joy ride.
