I had one cat when I was younger, and he used to wait for me in the top of my closet, and jump out at me almost every night. I hated that cat! Anyone else creeped out by cats? Check out these angry cats...

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

LOL - No I'm not kidding - I've always been creeped out by them. I'm somewhat grateful that my daughter is allergic to them, because my wife loves them. Now I've watched some youtube videos and they don't seem so bad, but the cat I had as a kid ruined me for other cats. That thing would make the weirdest noises at me, and then he'd wait up in my closet all day just to jump out and attack me at the most opportune moments.

I really hate to say anything, Gary, but weren't you on to his tricks by the 3rd or 4th time? Didn't you have a flashlight and water pistol to trick him back? You could have even stood outside the door and run an electric can opener to drive him crazy, that sound always brought my cat (RIP) running to see if just possibly it was food for him. And lastly, couldn't you have kept that closet door closed so he couldn't get it?

In defense of "some" cats, they aren't all alike and some are truly nice pets. It's finding one of those that make having a cat worthwhile.

        Okay, I apologize

LOL - I always thought I was on to his tricks, but it seemed like every time he'd find a new way to fool me. Sometimes he'd hide in between my hanging clothes and I'd think for sure that he wasn't in there this time - but NOO - just as I'd let my guard down he'd jump out and scare the badoody out of me. One time I even went in with a broom swinging - and I didn't stop swinging until every piece of hanging clothing I had was on the floor - and then I thought to my self - the one time he's not in here and I destroy my whole closet. All the while he's sitting on top of the door frame inside of the closet. So as I go to clean up the clothes, he jumps on me . I think about it now and it's funny. But the cat really creeped me out as a kid.

Gary; I've had maybe a dozen cats in my life, mostly growing up. Several dogs too. I've loved them all. I think the cat may have been playing with you. Or, at one time or another, you showed yourself to be a threat to the cat...and now you're the enemy.

Not all cats are loving around people. But if you raised it, it should be a great relationship.

The great news is, you don't have to have a cat. I like them a lot and have tried to make friends with two wild cats in the area, but to no avail.
But there are several animals I wouldn't want as pets.

I'll tell you what though, our yard has several chipmunks and squirrels in it, and I get a real kick out of watching them scurry about. I've tried several times to get a squirrel to come close and getting a peanut out of my hand..but I can't quite convince them that I won't eat them.

I'm actually a big animal lover myself - I have one dog right now, but I also keep several feeders in the back yard for the squirrels, bunnies, and birds. We also have a couple of red foxes that come around once in while. I haven't had a squirrel eat out of my hand yet, but did get a humming bird to take a drink out of my hand.

Same here. I adore cats. When I moved to Arkansas a few months ago I had a stray kitten about 4 months old show up at the door and took right to me.

She climb up on my head when she first saw me and now doesn't want me to put her down. She's wants me to hold her and be near her 24/7. She's a sweetheart. She also likes to comb my hair in the morning when I wake up.

She had never seen me before. But I guess she could sense I'm a cat lover and would take her in.

I asked around if someone had lost a cat but no one around here did. So she has a home with me.

Edit: That nasty mad cat actually makes me smile and laugh. I still think that cat is adorable.

I would love to cuddle with it even if it did scratch me and bite me. I do think that cat needs a hug and I'd be glad to give the hug.

    I can't stand cats.

Love dogs. Actually love most animals. Can't stand cats.

My wife's cat tries to kill me every chance it gets.

It is always trying to make me trip and fall down the stairs and make it look like an accident.
    I know better.

I could say more, but I can see the cat out of the corner of my eye.

Hmmm, l played with a cat, once, and it jumped on my back with its claws, ouch.

I was about 16 back then, and never played with that cat again, although l gave it a shock, so l doubt that it would try it again.

This was at a stock feed store, last thing you want is a cat jumping on some kid!

I have grown up with cats, as well as dogs, but cats rule!!!!

That's probably true. I remember playing hide and seek with my cats and dogs.

And trying to sneak up on them. You have to make sure they know it's a game.

My problem is that the cat wouldn't take anything I said seriously. My cat would laugh, when I yelled at it. The laughing was bad enough....

What really made me mad is that he would point when he laughed.

That cat was very passive aggressive. And a big jerk too!

OK, the last half was a joke. My cat told me it was laughing "With me", not at me. But my cat was also a notorious liar!

I had a cat once that would sit in front of the bedroom door (open door) & just stare at the top of the door for maybe 5min. That cat would leap straight up the door, grab the top of the open door & pull itself up then sit on top of the door & look around the room like it was no big deal.

Can't say cats make me nervous. I like them. I meet up with cats and crows on a daily basis when I walk down the street. I really like crows too. I used to just go and spend entire summers in the woods. The amount of wild edibles in the forest is something else (can't do that any more. My wife is scared of bears). Met up with various animals, but the one that unnerves me -- but that I respect greatly -- is raccoons. The other day, at a property owners' meeting, I realized that human beings make me even more nervous than raccoons do.

      And wise you are.

Raccoons make great pets, if you raise them from kittens. A wild one is nothing to tangle with lightly, though. I've seen a boar coon put a serious hurt on a 75 pound redbone and walk away unscathed.

They're way smarter than most cats.

I hunted coons with a redbone for a few years.
I gathered a great respect for a coons toughness, intelligence, and quickness
Also when I was a kid, the farmer's son had a coon pet.
You could always tell when I played with it because my shirt would be ripped to shreds Very friendly when raised from a kitten.

Reminds me of the book, "101 Uses for a Dead Cat." I gave a copy to a friend back when it first came out. He's a dyed-in-the-wool cat dude, and has no sense of humor on the subject. He thought I hated cats. Until he found out his cats liked me best. (I cheated. I gave them Fritos. )

I even got to tell him what one of them was named. "Zaphod Feeblebrains."

My approach to choosing a cat's appellation gives new meaning to the phrase "name and shame."

I love dogs and cats...here are a few of my own. If you treat a kitten/cat right they can grow into great companion pets.

    Chicken Worm aka: The Fizz

    Guji Girl

Supa Dupa aka: Ooopsy Loops aka: Kissy Cat

All three were kittens that my wife and I raised from birth and all three are half Himalayan. I bought a pair of Himalayans back in 2001 but unfortunately one of them died from a tumor many years ago, the other one I still have.

Most of the time these cats act like dogs...they don't treat you as a master but they do treat you as a companion. They don't like to be ignored and they almost insist on being around you for the majority of the day.

Not all cats that I have owned act this way...but many of the longhairs I have owned do. The orange one and the black one are brothers and they are now seven years old, the white female is now six years old. These are photos that I took way back in 2008 when I was testing some new camera firmware.

Dogs are great but cats can be too!
