SEPT 20 2013. ALIEN LIFE FOUND IN SPACE, "Video"

Large alien organisms have been found in Wakefield -- and they are definitely not funny-shaped sticks of rhubarb.

The Yorkshire city, famous for producing the pink vegetable, was the landing site for a balloon which brought back the extra-terrestrial particles after a trip to the edge of space.

Molecular biologist Prof Milton Wainwright, who led the project, said the find could prove revolutionary.

He added: "People might assume these biological particles drifted up from Earth but a particle of the size we found cannot be lifted to such heights."

what do you think, tagiscom?

Maybe not a surprise, but quite a breakthrough if true. Don't you think?

Yep, pretty cool, a flipper that is used for swimming around!!!! :p

Considering how much water there is on Mars, it could have come from there, or even further out on one of Saturn's moons, etc.

I think that Jupiter has some icy worlds as well, and since it is a giant vacuum cleaner????

But comets are known to have water ice on them, so???

A scary thought that these critters might be landing on us, and taking a bite!!!

Reminds me of this movie! LOL

Everything living thing on earth is made from a different set of common elements, including us. All common elements originate from Supernovas (starbursts), except for Hydrogen and Helium.
We are part of the cosmos, and the cosmos is part of us.

Therefore by definition we too are all 'aliens'.

Those elements are scattered all over the cosmos, and judging by the sheer size of space with at least 100 billion galaxies (that are known so far), and those galaxies are then filled with 100's of trillions of stars I think it is a fair assumption and the odds are that space must be teeming with different forms of life.

Yawn. The methodology was sloppy and the conclusions were not at all supported by evidence. And one of the "scientists", Chandra Wickramasinghe, who co-published the paper has made similar claims many times that he found a fragment of a frustrule (the hard outer casing of a diatom or microscopic plant) from meteorites.

Volcanoes are a possible mechanism of how such particles could have been lofted into the stratosphere. The project's lead researcher, Prof Milton Wainwwright of the university of Sheffield, says he is 95% certain that the diatom fragment didn't come from Earth.

But the evidence given in the paper doesn't support the claim this was from "outer space". This is actually a case of one from Earth getting into their sample.
Has Alien Life Been Found In Earth's Atmosphere? Milton Wainwright - Journal of Cosmology

      Abstract:
"Sampling of the stratosphere at heights between 22 and 27 km was carried out in the UK on 31st July 2013 using balloon-borne equipment carrying aseptically clean electron microscope stubs onto which aerosols were directly captured. The experiment revealed the presence of a diatom frustule captured from a height of >25km. On account of the very short residence time of particles of diatom size and mass at these heights, we argue for its incidence from space, with a probable origin in the watery environment of a comet."

Note this "conclusion" at the end of the paper:
"To conclude we note that the results presented here provide unequivocal evidence that a diatom fragment has been found in the lower stratosphere. Further studies by us are now underway on the biology of the stratosphere with a view to finally answering the question of where the organisms found in this region originate – are they exiting from Earth, or falling in to our planet from space? For the moment we are content to claim that diatom fragment isolated during these studies has an extraterrestrial origin."

Sorry I popped your balloon, bravo, but this topic is also of great interest to me. I have no doubt that the probability of life in the Cosmos is high, but we have no direct evidence of ET. Conditions for life on Mars looked pretty good about a billion years ago, and we have found the building blocks of life - amino acids in comets and meteorites. But these type of stories as well as some of the popular default conclusions that the unexplained (including for example UFOs) comes from "outer space" doesn't help people understand science or the scientific process.
