You can run, but you cannot hide ... and if you try, one push of a button will cause a lethal poison to immediately begin flowing through your body.

That's the Orwellian future a Saudi inventor was seeking to bring to Germany until that nation's patent office announced last week it was rejecting his request to patent what has been dubbed the "Killer Chip."

Yes, chances of him being successful in getting such a thing patented are good, since he can apply in different countries.

Looks like we need to be extra-careful whenever we go into hospital for surgery, as that would be the time they could implant us without our knowledge. It could be placed within vital organs rather than just below the skin surface, making it extremely difficult to detect.

If someone had one of those things implanted and it was 'triggered' to kill that person, who would be held accountable for the murder (which is what it would be)? How could it be proved exactly who triggered it? A black ops group? No, it would be one particular person within that group who could be charged with murder, not the group as a whole.

If you could find out who actually triggered it. Lots of luck with that.

I see a market for detector systems that detect implanted devices such as this, as well as kits for rapid removal.

Would an MRI possibly disable something like that?

Would a GPS system pick up a signal from something like that if the person were under water, such as scuba diving? No signal means it can't be triggered. Would a signal get into a room with lead covering the walls? Would a tinfoil blanket interrupt the GPS signal? Tinfoil blankets are excellent against infrared!

There are a lot of questions. Soon as a technology is invented, people will find a way to defeat it. That's just our nature.

I always think if it is in the news, it is OLD news, meaning it has been available for some time. It's just now we sheeple get to hear about it

That's true, John. Was Germany the first country he applied for patent in?
Probably should check American patents out again, LOL. Last time I just looked for mind control devices and got so upset at what I was seeing that I had to stop. Still don't want to ever have to use a cell phone.

        What reputation?

I was serious Star - there has been the threat of chips and discussion about implants for how long now? You don't think something that could detect and/or remove them wouldn't sell? I didn't say that your customers would always be the sane but they would sell.
About the time the sane started grabbing them up we could rethink if this stuff is crap or not.

Well, turns out the patent application, at least, isn't crap. It's quite real. To view it yourself:
          • Go to: http://depatisnet.dpma.de/DepatisNet/
          • Click the button that says "Recherche" at the top-left, just under the Patent Office logo.
          • A menu will appear under the "Recherche" button. Click on the option that says: "Einsteiger"
          • In the 3 boxes next to the word "Veroffentlichungsnummer", enter the following:
          • In Box 1: DE
          • In Box 2: 102007051890
          • In Box 3: A1
          • Click "Recherche starten" at the bottom-left of the screen.
          • Click on the PDF icon in the results that appear (will open a pop-up window).
Da daaaaaa... I haven't read through it (my German has rusted away into oblivion) but I'm 99% sure it's the same application referred to in the article, complete with cheesy drawings.

Yeah, I saw even with your cell phone off it can be activated to listen in on your conversations.
Think that was from a thread here, maybe even from you!

That's a common activity among the military and law-enforcement communities. The capabilities the authorities have when it comes to such things are far more advanced that is generally believed. For example, during a murder investigation in Ireland in 2005 (over 4 years ago), the location of the victim's mobile phone was tracked to within a few metres of where it (and the victim) were subsequently found, even though it had no GPS capability and the battery had died (!) some days earlier. That fact seems to have been accidentally let slip to the media by the police.

Also, in 2006, a man was convicted of the murder of his wife in Dublin City 2 years earler when, even though the police had no prior interest in him (meaning no special monitoring of him was taking place at the time of the murder), enough information still existed to track the movements of his mobile phone with sufficient accuracy to place him at the murder scene around the time she was killed.

So will the US Patent Registry. What's your point?

John - you are talking surveillance, and those patents are pretty sick, too - what I am talking about is actual mind control. They have some very wildly unbelievable stuff being patented. What you need to realize is - one criteria for getting a patent is the product HAS to work, so that relieves the necessity of wondering if it's real or not. No paranoia necessary. You wouldn't believe what they can do with cell phones and sonar frequencies. You should click around the US Patent Registry sometime. You have to get creative with keywords sometimes, you won't find everything listed as blatantly as "mind control" but some actually are, LOL.

Also lists the inventor info - sometimes the owner when it is different.

I'm surpised that marketers on the wf get sucked in by wnd. Alex jones owns a bunch of sites that funnel everything to wnd to purchase tshirts, dvd's, bumperstickers..etc. He practically makes crap up on his own just to get those that live in bunkers with tinfoil hats whipped into a crazed t-shirt buying frenzy.

Oh crap! Thanks for the reminder, Michael! I better take off this tinfoil hat and get out of my bunker and buy the latest Alex Jones t-shirt! Now that you mention it, I'm foaming at the mouth to get one!

One thing that points to this being another load of internet crap is that the
countries in THE EU have centralized the patent and copyright offices. The
individual countries don't do their own anymore and haven't for some time.

Not sure exactly how centralized they are Tom - I know you are at least partially right, though.

Anyway - it might be BS, it might not be - but if we look at the technologies available, it's not BS that someone could make that thing, and probably without too much fuss. I found the story chilling to even think about and think that it is highly possible in the future one of these freaking groups of despots would just foam at the mouth to have such power.

That's not entirely correct, Tom: There is a European Patent Office but it doesn't grant Europe-wide patents. It's more like a single-application to all countries, instead of applying to each country individually. E.U. member states still retain their own patent offices and issue their own patents, and you can still apply directly to an individual country if you want.
