My Son, 3, Prefers 1920's B&W Disney Cartoons Over Modern Ones With Color

My son, 3, loves watching Mickey Mouse and other black & white Disney cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s. He actually specifies, "Black and white Disney cartoons. No color." An eccentric relative of mine who believes he is the reincarnation of my father takes this as proof of it.

He's got good taste in shows. I too love those old black and white cartoons.

Good old classics. I was watching the black and white version of Felix the cat last night.

Well, I was going to say the same thing, but everyone beat me to it. Most of the color cartoons today, from disney, have MORE things different than just color. I can understand your sons preference.

They are funny, with special appeal to his 3-year-old mind. I think part of what fascinates him about black and white Disney films is how much they are like the original line drawings, so more clearly present the concept of animated drawings. He also likes staring at black and white line drawings for animated characters he normally sees in color -- eg for coloring books.

Most kids prefer the classic cartoons in front of the new, modern ones. I did also do that when I was a kid. The good ol' cartoons had guns, fights, explosions and everything. Do you find that in the modern political correct nanny cartoons? No. If you do, it's very rare.
