Debunking Blackwater

It hasn't hit here yet, but rumors are floating that Blackwater is hiring mercenaries that will be used for sinister purposes in the wake of Hurricane Gustov.

Your friendly mythbuster did some digging, and found this at their website:

Blackwater Worldwide

My thoughts:

1. If you actually read the requirements, they do not specify anything like Sniper School, or Arabic as requirements. They are merely looking for Law Enforcement types or Rent-A-Cop style security guards on a temporary contract basis.

2. Federal building need to be repoened asap to provide disaster relief. Current federal guard force (who normally handles this) is scattered to the four corners of the earth due to evacuation orders, with no reliable way to contact them or guarantee their return to duty until the governor allows for their return. National Guard is up to their ass in stopping looting, they can't be bothered with guard duty on a federal building right about now.

This is crystal clear in my mind what they are up to, and it's in no way diabolical.

    Hey, I resemble that remark!

    Looking at the qualifications maybe I should apply?

    I don't think there is anything sinister about it though. They work with the governement all the time. I have a buddy that worked for them a while ago and have several guys I work with that have sources on the inside. Nothing Sinister involved.

      It can't possibly hurt. And I'm sure they pay quite well for stuff like this.

      Use your inside buddies as references, and you might get picked.

    Why, yes it does require arabic,at least one position does, and no, it doesn't say Sniper, it says Defensive Designated Marksman aka DDM.

    I'm glad it's crystal clear in your mind but apparently its not Waterford crystal

      Are you reading the actual requirements of the job posting itself, or just scrolling down the page?

      Here's the actual ad. Please show me where Arabic is required for this position (or any kind of sniper school).

      Security for Hurricane Gustav
      Blackwater is compiling a list of qualified security personnel for possible deployment into areas affected by Hurricane Gustav. Applicants must meet all items listed under the respective Officer posting and be US citizens. Contract length is TBD.




      Law Enforcement Officers (all criteria must apply)


      1. Current sworn [may be full time, part time or reserve]
      2. With arrest powers
      3. Armed status (must indicate Armed and/or Semi Auto. Revolver only not accepted) expiration must be greater than 60 days out
      4. Departmental credentials (not just a badge)

      Armed Security Officers (all criteria must apply) Only from the following states: OR, WA, CA, NV, NM, AZ, TX, FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, IL, OK


      1. Current/active/licensed/registered armed security officer
      2. All training verification [unarmed and armed certificates of completion]
      3. Current state issued face card indicting armed status [expiration must be greater than 60 days out]


      Applicants will be required to provide an electronic copy of the above required credentials/documents, recent photo within the last six months with response to this AD prior to consideration for deployment.

        I have no problem admitting when I make a mistake. I thought the whole page was employment opportunities for the hurricane. Going back I see I was wrong.
        The arabic speakers and the snipers are for other countries.

                Actually the facts are in on Blackwater, and they aren't good. I watched the congressional hearings when they interviewed the CEO of Blackwater.
                He refused to give so many answers that there really was no point in being there.
                Why the hell is the US using rent a cops in other countries anyway?
                You want sanity to make a comeback, elect honest representatives.
                That would be a good start.
                What it's time for is America to wake up.

    Floyd, You know I love ya' darlin.......but we can't ignore that our Constitutional rights are being stripped to the bare bones....and even those are being gnawed!

    I'll harp on the same tune, beat this horse one more time, it ain't bloody enough.....we have to vote not according to party this election....but according to the stand of the individual candidate....which means ALL OF US will need to take some time and RESEARCH our possibilities and not vote on emotion, political persuasion, past voting pattern or sway of the media. THIS election isn't about party platform.....but the survival of OUR NATION.

    This is the most important election in US history! This will determine weather or not we will be living in the USA or in America ( google North American Union, SPP.gov, NAFTA Highway. go on YouTube and look up Lou Dobbs's reports on NAU ). Yes, your research showed that the Director of the Constitution Party of Texas (source) got a little over excited...but with good reason. We have TONS of other violations that Lou Dobbs on CNN has been whistle-blowing for the last two or three years!

    Folks...WAKE UP! It's time to take a stand and speak up as our founding fathers did when they stood up to Britain's tyrrany by casting our votes for candidates who uphold the Constitution and boot those who mock it.

    Man, this horse is a mess!

      I have thought about appling but the big problem for me right now is the traveling I can't afford to do it yet. My g/f is in the middle of masters degree. She is already stressed out plus I make pretty good money for sitting on my a** (Infact I work on IM at work LOL I get paid to get paid if that makes sense!)
