Was Adam Lambert Cheated?

Adam Lambert was the favorite to win American Idol, but "America voted and the new American Idol is....Kris Allen!"

I think Kris is more marketable and I don't think the votes really count on that show. The purpose is to find a new marketable talent, so 19 Entertainment and Simon Cowell can rake in more millions. I think they chose Kris as the winner weeks ago.

Who did you want to win and why?

Ray, if you don't like it, you are not obligated to kick in your two cents. But while you're here, who did you think would win it?

I think Adam was lucky - and I loved the attitude toward each other that both finalists showed.

The winner is locked into a contract - and from previous years, it's often the runner up who has become the bigger star. I'd say Lambert's future is going to be great.

My surprise came when Kris was the other finalist. He didn't have the best voice, often seemed a bit awkward in presentation. His looks had a lot to do with his popularity. In fact, early on when he mentioned his wife it was jokingly said "maybe you shouldn't tell folks you're off the market".

The last two eliminated from the finals (the redhead and Danny) were far better than Chris at the range of vocals to me.

Since I first heard Adam Lambert, I thought he had the whole package - he'll do very well in the future.

I agree, Kay. Adam wasn't everyone's "cup of tea" but he has incredible vocals - and a great flair for entertainment. Had he won he would have been locked into a contract that would actually hold him back. He took it to the end, he got his following, showed the world his talent and even got to meet some great artists (I think he probably thought he'd died and gone to heaven singing with Kiss). This is a guy we can't feel sorry for. He's got it made now and you will be hearing from him again.
In fact - I thought he looked almost relieved when he didn't get the win.

When Chris was in his right fields of music he has a great voice, too - he's just not the showman or as versatile as Adam and he's newer to the game, but he really came a long way during the competition. The song he sang with (can't remember the star's name) last night (wanna kiss a girl) I think really showed him in his real element. He was having fun, the song was right, and you could see the star element in him. He is definitely more right for an American Idol contract than Adam and will bloom with the experience he gains over the next year.

I think both of them are very happy at how it turned out - we should be happy for them.

I thought both were pretty good. And had this happend in the late 90's, lambert probably would have it on lock.

allen was practically made for cd's/tv's and posters for little girls' rooms, plus he has a killer voice witht he right song

I thought the final two would be Adam Lambert and Allsion Iraheta, the redhead. I was surprised when she got the boot. Between Adam and Kris, Adam definitely has more stage presence and a stronger voice, but again, it does depend upon the songs they are singing, as Adam is clearly a lot more of a rocker than Kris could ever be.

I'm just glad they dumped that 'glasses' guy. I can't believe they kept him around as long as they did.

And yes, it seems it may be best career-wise to come in second on that show.

The top ten will have a tour, regardless...

I will "kick in my 2cents" wherever and whenever I please especially when I read conspiracy theory claptrap. Isn't it obvious that Simon would like to promote the most marketable? If so, then surely the one the public chose would be the best one to market. Why try to create a demand for something that is less popular? Again, a certian envy of other peoples success - Simon's - seems to colour your judgement

Having said that, I think both are brilliant and destined to become superstars.

Who did I think would win? I picked Adam. When I saw the performances tonight, I was watching in the knowledge that Chris had won and so viewed it throught that perspective. I loved Adam's performances, but can understand how people could vote for Chris.

Sorry to disappoint you, ray, but envy doesn't color my judgment one way or the other! If that's what you want to think, hey, that's your problem, not mine!

Ya my wife and i was def not on the adam bandwagon. He had some good songs but we didnt like the whiney screaming that everyone else seemed to just love. We voted and are glad Kris won but we also think that Danny,Kris and Adam are all very marketable in a dif way each.

Uh-oh, does someone need some publicity? Why not diss the latest Idols, that should do it...

I don't see Clay saying anything about Susan Boyle...

Okay, Clay, you bad little boy, you've done it, now go make some more records, uh, CDs... and throw that stupid tie away! You're gay, have you no fashion sense?!

Funny that Aiken would have anything to say - he's one that has not lived up to the potential they thought he had. He's jealous of the talent of both of the finalists this year most likely. He sure doesn't have it.

Wasn't it Aiken who hid being gay until after the competition - while Adam was just "i am who i am"....which is all anyone should have to explain.

Simon signs a lot of musicians (that's his business) - the show (from what I've read) gets some benefit from the guaranteed contract the winner gets. The runnerup writes his own contract but wouldn't be surprised to see Simon sign Adam himself if he can.

Actually, I liked Danny (the glasses guy) - he could be a great blues singer. A lot of those votes are on looks and as the season moves on the votes seem to be a teen popularity contest.

I agree star - thought it would be Adam and Allison. They ended with two totally different finalists. He held his own with KISS and that's not easy. What really stood out for me when it got down to 4-5 people was that they were good competitors but also good sports and seemed to like each other.

I think Kris Allen can be marketed in different ways. He could go country, he could go easy listening-type, he could become a crooner or maybe even be marketed in the jazz genre, while Adam is pretty much pigeon-holed as a rocker now. Typecast. Not always a good thing.

That's what I was referring to. But that's what happens when guys wear mascara...

Kay, let's see how well they like each other now that the show is over.

        I don't care what he wears - he's a good looking dude!

When I listen to his vocal range the person that comes to mind is the style of Celine Dion and her extremely wide vocal range.

I can see Adam going straight rocker or going the way of Dion in using a wide variety of styles and original scores. I can imagine him as a top Vegas entertainer in time. That's a cushy gig. He also has the acting background to be on broadway if that's what he wants. Both guys have a great future.

Adam is going to have a very bright future. I don't think he was cheated at all.

I initially wanted Alexis Grace to win this year...I think she's fantastic..but when her Idol journey was cut short (too short too quickly!) I was cheering for Allison...

I liked Kris Allen from day one too...there was just something about him I liked. Do I think he was the most talented out of the top 10 or top 13 even?
NOT at all. But you gotta admit he is very likeable and I think that's what got him all the votes and the win.

I'm sure it did - I saw people on twitter dissing him for his sexual orientation the whole way through the competition. I am not sure why people think someone else's sex life is their business. A lot of Judgement against someone who could just have had their hormones and genes tweaked because Mommy wore chemical sunscreens while carrying them. But many seem to think they are the "chosen one" when it comes to mandating other's lifestyles. A LOT of Hypocrisy.
      </rant>

Kay - I really liked how cohesive this group was, too - I usually only watch Idol once in a while, but I watched this whole season. The finalists weren't acting - they actually liked each other. Just a lot of chemistry this year.

We get "American Idol" on cable in Australia and it is broadcast a few hours after the live performance, due to the time difference. However, I watched the Results Night live as it was broadcast here at 10 am.

I don't normally watch AI but happened to tune in on the night Adam first sang "Mad World" and was blown away with his performance. As a result, I watched it through to the final night to see how it developed.

At first I couldn't believe that Alison missed the final 3.

I believed to the end that Adam was by far the best all-round performer, with a stage presence that reminded me of Freddy Mercury, from "Queen".

However, during the week preceding the finals of AI, Eurovision was held, with 2 semi finals and the finals (over three nights). My top choice there was the U.K. entry, who I thought was outstanding (as was the French rep) but was astonished at the voting pattern. The overwhelming winner was a folksy group from Norway, very much in the style of Kris Allen, with boyish good looks. They won support across all borders.

Apart from Norway, voting was pretty predictable: the Scandinavian countries voted for each other, as did the Eastern Europeans, etc.

After watching Eurovision, I suspected the writing was on the wall for Adam.
