Who couldn't use a big dose of happy?

I was reading an article in the Huff on healthy living and they listed eight happy feelings that won't ever change:

1 ~ The safe feeling of being with family

2 ~ How you feel after a belly laugh

3 ~ How you feel after a really good nap

4 ~ The joyful feeling of hearing little kids giggle

5 ~ The unconditional love you get from a pet

6 ~ The sense of calm you feel when you hear the ocean lap the shore

7 ~ The nostalgic feeling triggered by the smell of a campfire

8 ~ The freedom you feel on the first day it's warm enough to wear shorts

A few of mine are included in their list, but I also have to add...

9 ~ The smell of freshly brewed coffee upon waking up in the morning

What is one of yours?

    Hi MissTerraK,

    I have more than 1

    1) when your child does/says something that makes you proud

    2) sharing a passionate kiss with your other half that moves you and sets the pulse racing

    3) doing something for/saying something to someone that makes their eyes well up with happiness - also receiving the same

    4) someone you admire paying you a compliment

    5) the feeling of speed/freedom/wind in your hair when travelling on two wheels (cycle or motorbike)

    6) getting home, closing the door, having a hot drink and a bath and getting changed/cosy after a particularly vigorous outdoor adventure or long trip away

That's okay, I have more than one too.

      Another of mine is...

      Puppy Kisses!

Or if you're not allergic to cats like me, then...

Good choices so far. I'd add:

        - Hearing a favorite piece of music

        - The sound of rain against the window as you're curled up in bed

        - A starry night and a clear view

        - The first snowfall of the winter

        - Christmas lights

        - Popping the air out of bubble wrap

Funny you should say that - like when the child in you can't help setting your internal/mental alarm clock which then wakes you up at the time that the weatherman predicted the storm (3am), because you live on a hill by the coast and have rattly old sash windows - so you sit in semi-darkness loving it...

Edit - (one hour later) damn, I was looking at the one clock (on the thermostat) that I had forgotten to move back last night for daylight saving time.....so it was only 2am really and it's going to get even more windy!

I know that feeling. I felt incredibly proud of my son (3) when he walked away from a group of kids he was happily playing with to cheer up and entertain a lonely and dejected child. I won't forget the pleased look on the face of that child's mother.

(It wasn't the first time he'd done something like that either).

      Stuff that makes me happy.

Walking in the woods with my dog and enjoying the soft sounds of nature.
A hot shower on a winter day.

      Seeing my family enjoying themselves.

A couple more of mine are:

~ The smell of clean laundry that has been dried outside on the line

~ Putting on warm clothes that have just come out of the dryer on a cold winter's morning

~ Seeing the look of awe on children's faces when they get up on Christmas morning and see the presents under the tree

~ The aroma of homemade apple pie baking in the oven

It was only because of the first line. I swear. lol

On a serious note (no-pun intended), when I worked at Little Bear
Saloon in Evergreen, several musicians who played in John Denver's

musicians to play there during the time I was there.

            Kurt,

It is still open. Same owner. I have not been in Evergreen for about
18 months. The Bear has not been super busy or rowdy for years.
DUI laws and societal attitude/responsibility probably have quite
a bit to do with that.

Nor do they get the top music acts like they used to do. Partly a
change in owner attitude (IMO somewhat) and probably a lot
because it's too small a venue to be able to offer the minimum
guarantee a name act wants these days.

I did see The Fray play there about two or three years before they
could sell out Red Rocks for three nights in a row. The sound man
(an established European musician a decade earlier) guessed right
about The Fray making it big. I did not at all - not even close. lol
