I'm not a huge fan of BJJ, but it's always nice to see
criminals picking on the wrong people.

It wasn't courage. The guy just wouldn't take it. Some people are just built that way. He was very very lucky. He had no speed, no element of surprise, no advantage. The robber just didn't shoot.

I'm amazed that he wasn't killed.

I think the "hero" was as much of a thug as the mugger.
Or perhaps more, and that experience is why he knew
the guy with the gun wouldn't shoot until it was too late.

Not the way I would suggest anyone handle the situation,
but he did get out alive, and only his shoe and the ceiling
    really got hurt.

Hell, if someone pulls out a loaded gun and the tomato cans
are the worst of the casualties, I'm happy with the result.

      From the news site:

The suspect ... is facing 33 charges including robbery and assault.
Police say he grew up in the neighborhood and has no criminal history.
I wonder what he has gotten away with until now. And, what was he planning
with the AR and sixty rounds? I think society may be very lucky he's been derailed.
      ---------------------------

I agree, the "hero" was very lucky, not in the mood to take anything,
and has some experience. The way the gunman lowered the gun
and a quick assessment of the gunman's nerve probably gave him
      clues to continue.

Where I used to play a lot of pool, there was a thug type that frequented
the place. He knows how to strike and wrestle. In a couple of situations
he got into action faster than the staff and prevented some bad things
      from happening.

My biggest takeaway from the video wasn't the act itself, but the idiot newscasters calling the guy a 'vigilante'. If they're going to use words, they ought to know what they mean first.

And "...inches away from his face." Maybe in the ensuing wrestling match, but not at the time the talking head was describing it.

I am really really tired of sensationalism masquerading as journalism. That's why this stuff is only fit for YouTube.

I don't know... These days I've found more good journalism on
Youtube than on the major news networks!
