Out of the celebrities that have passed away, who do you miss the most? Was there a celebrity that you followed? Or thought he or she really meant something to you??
In my case-it would have to be Sam Kinnison
was the funniest guy I've ever seen-
gone way to fast.

    Paul Newman

Update: Yikes. I just checked to see what there was about Paul Newman in recent news, expecting to see something about the charities he founded. Instead, I came across horrible and disappointing news:

Celebrities are kind of funny. Unless they do primarily live work you really don't
get to "miss" them. Their work lives on forever. The Three Stooges, Abbott
and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, etc. etc. are just as much alive now as ever.

In fact, some celebrities became more popular after their death. Look at
        Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

I can't really say there are any celebrities that I "miss" though there are a few
who I wish were still around (mostly musicians) to add to their musical
        repertoire.

At the top of that list:

Karen Carpenter (died way too young)
        Harry Chapin
        George Harrison
        John Lennon
        Pete Ham

For me, it's no one. I just don't grow that emotionally attached to celebrities.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Even though I can still hear her amazing voice when I choose, I'll say Whitney Houston.

I miss Michael Jackson. I think of him everyday. His music with the Jackson Five got me through an unhappy childhood.

That guy who did the 5 loaves and 2 fishes thing, when he fed 5,000. What a showman. It puts David Copperfield to shame.

I'm with Steve in that there aren't really any I miss, but there are a bunch I wish were still around:

    Stevie Ray Vaughn
    Jimi Hendrix
    Jim Croce
    Ronnie James Dio
    Johnny Cash
    Ronnie Van Zant
    Tommy Bolin
    Duane Allman

...just to name a few. And veering away from music...

    Red Skelton
    Rodney Dangerfield
    Jackie Gleason

...I give up. Too many great talents are coming to mind.

Carl Sagan. The series Cosmos rekindled a real love of science.

Wow, Paul Newman. A real heavyweight.

      Christopher Reeve too.

I went for the "traditional" celebrities, but I'm glad you added Sagan. Cosmos is one of the best ever shows of any kind in my book.

@Jack - Winters is another good one. There are so many, and if you go back into the silent era, it's starts whole 'nuther discussion.

Great minds think alike - I immediately thought of Red Skelton when I read the title - I'd also include Jonathon Winters...

Ayrton Senna. I know the thread title is about celebrities and Senna was always a racing driver but for me his racing provided me with some of the best entertainment. Would have loved to have seen him race some more obviously and be interesting to see what he would have done in retirement.

You just can't beat this, F1 cars seemed to be alive with a soul in those days much more than what they are now.
